Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy, safety, and effect on sexual behaviour of on-demand pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV in men who have sex with men: an observational cohort study

TL;DR: On-demand oral PrEP is highly effective at preventing HIV infection among high-risk men who have sex with men and therefore represents an alternative to daily PrEP, expanding choices for HIV prevention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Time From Human Immunodeficiency Virus Seroconversion to Reaching CD4+ Cell Count Thresholds <200, <350, and <500 Cells/mm3: Assessment of Need Following Changes in Treatment Guidelines

TL;DR: Mixed models predict substantial increases in the number of individuals who require treatment and call for early HIV testing, and predicted time between seroconversion and CD4+ cell count <200, <350, and <500 cells/mm³ as well as CD4- cell count distribution and proportions reaching these thresholds at 1, 2, and 5 years after serconversion.
Journal ArticleDOI

CD4 cell count and the risk of AIDS or death in HIV-Infected adults on combination antiretroviral therapy with a suppressed viral load: a longitudinal cohort study from COHERE

TL;DR: Using data from the Collaboration of Observational HIV Epidemiological Research Europe, Jim Young and colleagues show that in successfully treated patients the risk of a new AIDS event or death follows a CD4 cell count gradient in patients with viral suppression.
