A Whole-Genome Association Study of Major Determinants for Host Control of HIV-1
Jacques Fellay,Kevin V. Shianna,Dongliang Ge,Sara Colombo,Bruno Ledergerber,Michael E. Weale,Kunlin Zhang,Curtis Gumbs,Antonella Castagna,Andrea Cossarizza,Alessandro Cozzi-Lepri,Andrea De Luca,Philippa Easterbrook,P Francioli,Simon Mallal,Javier Martinez-Picado,José M. Miró,Niels Obel,Jason Smith,Josiane Wyniger,Patrick Descombes,Stylianos E. Antonarakis,Norman L. Letvin,Andrew J. McMichael,Barton F. Haynes,Amalio Telenti,David Goldstein +26 more
TL;DR: Using a whole-genome association strategy, polymorphisms that explain nearly 15% of the variation among individuals in viral load during the asymptomatic set-point period of infection are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Remdesivir vs Standard Care on Clinical Status at 11 Days in Patients With Moderate COVID-19: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Christoph D. Spinner,Robert L. Gottlieb,Gerard J. Criner,José Ramón Arribas López,Anna Maria Cattelan,Alex Soriano Viladomiu,Onyema Ogbuagu,Prashant Malhotra,Kathleen M. Mullane,Antonella Castagna,Louis Yi Ann Chai,Meta Roestenberg,Owen Tak Yin Tsang,Enos Bernasconi,Paul Le Turnier,Shan-Chwen Chang,Devi SenGupta,Robert H. TL;DR: Among patients with moderate COVID-19, those randomized to a 10-day course of remdesivir did not have a statistically significant difference in clinical status compared with standard care at 11 days after initiation of treatment, but the difference was of uncertain clinical importance.

Haynes,Mary Carrington,Sheng Feng,Amalio Telenti,David Goldstein,Aids Vaccine Immunology +37 more
TL;DR: The authors performed a genome-wide association study in a cohort of 2,554 infected Caucasian subjects and found common genetic variants explaining down to 1.3% of the variability in viral load at set point.

Haynes,Mary Carrington,Mary Carrington,Sheng Feng,Amalio Telenti,David Goldstein +37 more
TL;DR: This study provides overwhelming confirmation of three associations previously reported in a genome-wide study and shows further independent effects of both common and rare variants in the Major Histocompatibility Complex region (MHC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and safety of tocilizumab in severe COVID-19 patients: a single-centre retrospective cohort study.
Corrado Campochiaro,Emanuel Della-Torre,Giulio Cavalli,Giacomo De Luca,Marco Ripa,Nicola Boffini,Alessandro Tomelleri,Elena Baldissera,Patrizia Rovere-Querini,Annalisa Ruggeri,Giacomo Monti,Francesco De Cobelli,Alberto Zangrillo,Moreno Tresoldi,Antonella Castagna,Lorenzo Dagna +15 more
TL;DR: Clinical improvement and mortality were not statistically significant different between tocilizumab and standard treatment patients in this retrospective study on severe COVID-19 patients with hyper-inflammatory features.
