Jane M. Carlton,Samuel V. Angiuoli,Bernard B. Suh,Taco W. A. Kooij,Mihaela Pertea,Joana C. Silva,Maria D. Ermolaeva,Jonathan E. Allen,Jeremy D. Selengut,Hean L. Koo,Jeremy Peterson,Mihai Pop,Daniel S. Kosack,Martin Shumway,Shelby L. Bidwell,Shamira J. Shallom,Susan Van Aken,Steven B. Fraser,Stephen L. Hoffman,Malcolm J. Gardner,Daniel J. Carucci +43 more
TL;DR: This is the first genome sequence of a model eukaryotic parasite, and it provides insight into the use of such systems in the modelling of Plasmodium biology and disease.

P25 and P28 proteins of the malaria ookinete surface have multiple and partially redundant functions
Ana M. Tomás,Gabriele Margos,George Dimopoulos,Leo H.M. van Lin,Tania F. de Koning-Ward,Ria Sinha,Pietro Lupetti,Annette L. Beetsma,Maria del Carmen Rodriguez,Marianna Karras,Ariadne Hager,Jacqui Mendoza,Geoffrey Butcher,Fotis C. Kafatos,Chris J. Janse,Andrew P. Waters,Robert E. Sinden +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that P25 and P28 share multiple functions during ookinete/oocyst development and the fact that Sko parasites are efficiently transmitted by the mosquito is a compelling reason for including both target antigens in transmission‐blocking vaccines.
