Journal ArticleDOI
Bacterial isolates of early-onset neonatal sepsis and their antibiotic susceptibility pattern between 1998 and 2004: an audit from a center in India
TL;DR: Gram-negative species especially Pseudomonas and Klebsiella were the predominant causative organisms and initial empirical choice of cefotaxime in combination with amikacin appeared to be rational choice for a given cohort.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors of neonatal sepsis in India: A systematic review and meta-analysis
TL;DR: Male neonates, outborn admissions, need for artificial ventilation, gestational age <37 weeks and premature rupture of membranes are risk factors for sepsis among neonates in India.
Journal ArticleDOI
Follow-up in newborn hearing screening – A systematic review
Rohit Ravi,Dhanshree R. Gunjawate,Krishna Yerraguntla,Leslie Lewis,Carlie Driscoll,Bellur Rajashekhar +5 more
TL;DR: A novel attempt to explore the loss to follow-up (LTF) rate among NHS studies, reasons for LTF and strategies to reduce LTF can act as a basis for planning and execution of effective NHS programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards understanding global patterns of antimicrobial use and resistance in neonatal sepsis: insights from the NeoAMR network
Grace Li,Julia Bielicki,A S M Nawshad Uddin Ahmed,Mohammad Shahidul Islam,Eitan Naaman Berezin,Clery B Gallacci,Ruth Guinsburg,Carlos Eduardo da Silva Figueiredo,Rosilene Santarone Vieira,André Ricardo Araujo da Silva,Cristiane Teixeira,Paul Turner,Ladin Nhan,Jaime Orrego,Paola Marsela Pérez,Lifeng Qi,Vassiliki Papaevangelou,Pinelope Triantafyllidou,Elias Iosifidis,Emmanuel Roilides,Kosmas Sarafidis,Dasaratha Ramaiah Jinka,Raghuprakash Reddy Nayakanti,Praveen Kumar,Vikas Gautam,Vinayagam Prakash,Arasar Seeralar,Srinivas Murki,Hemasree Kandraju,Sanjeev Singh,Anil Kumar,Leslie Lewis,Jayashree Pukayastha,Sushma Nangia,Yogesha K N,Suman Chaurasia,Harish Chellani,Stephen K. TL;DR: The apparent burden of AMR in a given NNU in the LMIC setting can be influenced by a range of factors which will vary substantially between NNUs, and these variations must be considered when designing interventions to improve neonatal mortality globally.
Journal ArticleDOI
NAD(P)HX dehydratase (NAXD) deficiency: a novel neurodegenerative disorder exacerbated by febrile illnesses.

TL;DR: The results show that NAXD deficiency can be classified as a metabolite repair disorder in which accumulation of damaged metabolites likely triggers devastating effects in tissues such as the brain and the heart, eventually leading to early childhood death.
