Journal ArticleDOI
Optimized Metal-Organic-Framework Nanospheres for Drug Delivery: Evaluation of Small-Molecule Encapsulation
TL;DR: Electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and elemental analysis show that the small-molecule-encapsulated ZIF-8 nanospheres are uniform 70 nm particles with single-crystalline structure, thereby rendering the Zif-8 scaffold an ideal drug delivery vehicle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imparting functionality to biocatalysts via embedding enzymes into nanoporous materials by a de novo approach: size-selective sheltering of catalase in metal-organic framework microcrystals.
Fa Kuen Shieh,Shao Chun Wang,Chia I. Yen,Chang Cheng Wu,Saikat Dutta,Lien-Yang Chou,Joseph V. Morabito,Pan Hu,Ming Hua Hsu,Kevin C.-W. Wu,Chia-Kuang Tsung +10 more
TL;DR: Because catalase is immobilized and sheltered by the ZIF-90 crystals, the composites show activity in hydrogen peroxide degradation even in the presence of protease proteinase K.
Journal ArticleDOI
Yolk–Shell Nanocrystal@ZIF-8 Nanostructures for Gas-Phase Heterogeneous Catalysis with Selectivity Control
Chun Hong Kuo,Yang Tang,Lien-Yang Chou,Brian T. Sneed,Casey N. Brodsky,Zipeng Zhao,Chia-Kuang Tsung +6 more
TL;DR: A general synthetic strategy for yolk-shell nanocrystal@ZIF-8 nanostructures has been developed and the results show high activity for the ethylene and cyclohexene hydrogenations but not in the cyclooctene hydrogenation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water Splitting by Tungsten Oxide Prepared by Atomic Layer Deposition and Decorated with an Oxygen‐Evolving Catalyst
Rui Liu,Yongjing Lin,Lien-Yang Chou,Stafford W. Sheehan,Wangshu He,Fan Zhang,Harvey J. M. Hou,Dunwei Wang +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that crystalline WO3 can be synthesized by the atomic layer deposition (ALD) method in the true ALD regime, and that a long H2O pulse time is necessary to initiate growth is a key finding of this work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shielding against Unfolding by Embedding Enzymes in Metal–Organic Frameworks via a de Novo Approach
Fu Siang Liao,Wei Shang Lo,Yu Shen Hsu,Chang Cheng Wu,Shao Chun Wang,Fa Kuen Shieh,Joseph V. Morabito,Lien-Yang Chou,Kevin C.-W. Wu,Chia-Kuang Tsung +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, an enzyme maintains its biological function under a wider range of conditions after being embedded in metal-organic framework (MOF) microcrystals via a de novo approach.
