SCFFbxl3 controls the oscillation of the circadian clock by directing the degradation of cryptochrome proteins

TL;DR: It is found that both Cry1 and Cry2 proteins are ubiquitinated and degraded via the SCFFbxl3 ubiquitin ligase complex, a prerequisite for the efficient and timely reactivation of Clock-Bmal1 and the consequent expression of Per1 and Per2, two regulators of the circadian clock that display tumor suppressor activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Degradation of Cdc25A by β-TrCP during S phase and in response to DNA damage

TL;DR: The results show that β-TrCP has a crucial role in mediating the response to DNA damage through Cdc25A degradation, and is the F-box protein that targets phosphorylated CDC25A for degradation by the Skp1/Cul1/F-boxprotein complex.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Cdc14B-Cdh1-Plk1 axis controls the G2 DNA damage response checkpoint

TL;DR: It is shown that, in response to genotoxic stress in G2, the phosphatase Cdc14B translocates from the nucleolus to the nucleoplasm and induces the activation of the ubiquitin ligase APC/C(Cdh1), with the consequent degradation of Plk1, a prominent mitotic kinase.
