Journal ArticleDOI
Oppenheimer-Phillips effect and electron screening in d+ d fusion reactions
TL;DR: In this paper, the cross sections of d(d, p)t at E≦10keV were analyzed using a beamforming detector and showed clear evidence for electron screening effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross section of He-3(He-3,2p)He-4 measured at solar energies
M. Junker,A. D'Alessandro,Sandra Zavatarelli,C. Arpesella,E. Bellotti,Carlo Broggini,P. Corvisiero,Giovanni Fiorentini,A. Fubini,G. Gervino,Uwe Greife,C. Gustavino,J. M. Lambert,Paolo Prati,W.S. Rodney,C. Rolfs,Frank Strieder,H. P. Trautvetter,D. Zahnow +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the results of the underground accelerator facility LUNA (Gran Sasso) experiment and show that for the first time the lowest projectile energies utilized for the cross section measurement correspond to energies below the center of the solar Gamow peak.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory for Underground Nuclear Astrophysics (LUNA)
Uwe Greife,C. Arpesella,C. A. Barnes,F. Bartolucci,E. Bellotti,Carlo Broggini,P. Corvisiero,Giovanni Fiorentini,A. Fubini,G. Gervino,F. Gorris,C. Gustavino,M. Junker,R.W. Kavanagh,A. Lanza,G. Mezzorani,Paolo Prati,Piero Quarati,W.S. Rodney,C. Rolfs,W.E. Schulte,H. P. Trautvetter,D. Zahnow +22 more
TL;DR: The LUNA project as discussed by the authors is a pilot project focused initially on cross section measurements of the reaction within the thermal energy region of the sun, and the experimental sensitivity was improved by more than four orders of magnitude over that of previous work.
Journal Article
Experimental cross section of 144Sm(α, γ)148Gd and implications for the p-process
E. Somorjai,Zsolt Fülöp,Á.Z. Kiss,C. Rolfs,H. P. Trautvetter,Uwe Greife,M. Junker,Stéphane Goriely,Marcel Arnould,Marc Rayet,Thomas Rauscher,Heinz Oberhummer +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the cross section of the 144 Sm(;) 148 Gd reac- tion at bombarding energies in the 10.5-13.4 MeV range using an activation method based on the off-line activity measurement of the residual nucleus.
Journal ArticleDOI
A high-efficiency gas target setup for underground experiments, and redetermination of the branching ratio of the 189.5 keV 22Ne(p, γ)23Na resonance
F. Ferraro,M. P. Takács,M. P. Takács,D. Piatti,V. Mossa,Marialuisa Aliotta,D. Bemmerer,A. Best,A. Boeltzig,C. Broggini,C. G. Bruno,Antonio Caciolli,F. Cavanna,T. Chillery,G. F. Ciani,P. Junker,I. Kochanek,Maria Lugaro,Laura Elisa Marcucci,Paola Marigo,Roberto Menegazzo,F. R. Pantaleo,V. Paticchio,R. Perrino,Paolo Prati,L. Schiavulli,K. Stöckel,K. Stöckel,Oscar Straniero,Tamás Szücs,Davide Trezzi,Sandra Zavatarelli +46 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a high-purity, recirculating gas target system for isotopically enriched gases is coupled with a high efficiency, six-fold optically segmented bismuth germanate (BGO) -ray detector.
