Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and Potential Mechanism(s) of Post-Procedural Rise of Cardiac Biomarker in Patients With Coronary Artery Narrowing After Implantation of an Everolimus-Eluting Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold or Everolimus-Eluting Metallic Stent
Yuki Ishibashi,Takashi Muramatsu,Shimpei Nakatani,Yohei Sotomi,Pannipa Suwannasom,Maik J. Grundeken,Yun Kyeong Cho,Hector M. Garcia-Garcia,Ad J. van Boven,Jan J. Piek,Manel Sabaté,Steffen Helqvist,Andreas Baumbach,Dougal McClean,Manuel de Sousa Almeida,Luc Wasungu,Karine Miquel-Hebert,Dariusz Dudek,Bernard Chevalier,Yoshinobu Onuma,Patrick W. Serruys +20 more
TL;DR: There were no differences in the incidence of CB rise and PMI between Absorb and EES, and device overlap might be a precipitating factor of myocardial injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methodological and clinical implications of the relocation of the minimal luminal diameter after intracoronary radiation therapy
Manel Sabaté,Marco A. Costa,Ken Kozuma,I. Patrick Kay,Connie J van der Wiel,Vitali E. Verin,William Wijns,Patrick W. Serruys +7 more
TL;DR: Relocation of the MLD is commonly demonstrated after BA and brachytherapy, and it should be taken into account during the analysis of the results of radiation clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimization in Stent Implantation by Manual Thrombus Aspiration in ST-Segment–Elevation Myocardial Infarction Findings From the EXAMINATION Trial
Diego Fernández-Rodríguez,Ander Regueiro,Salvatore Brugaletta,Victoria Martin-Yuste,Mónica Masotti,Angel Cequier,Andrés Iñíguez,Antonio Serra,Rosana Hernández-Antolín,Vicente Mainar,Marco Valgimigli,Maurizio Tespili,Pieter den Heijer,Armando Bethencourt,Nicolás Vázquez,Patrick W. Serruys,Manel Sabaté +16 more
TL;DR: Manual TA during primary per cutaneous coronary intervention is associated with a higher rate of direct stenting, a lower rate of postdilatation, and larger and less stents in comparison with conventional primary percutaneous coronary Intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preserved Endothelium-Dependent Vasodilation in Coronary Segments Previously Treated With Balloon Angioplasty and Intracoronary Irradiation
Manel Sabaté,I. Patrick Kay,Willem J. van der Giessen,Angel Cequier,Jurgen Ligthart,Joan Antoni Gómez-Hospital,Stephane Carlier,V.L.M.A. Coen,Johannes P. A. Marijnissen,Alexander J Wardeh,Peter C. Levendag,Patrick W. Serruys +11 more
TL;DR: Endothelium-dependent vasomotion of coronary segments treated with BA followed by beta-radiation is restored in the majority of stable patients at 6-month follow-up, and this functional response appeared to be better than those documented both in the distal segments and in segments treating with BA alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infective endocarditis in patients with an implanted transcatheter aortic valve: Clinical characteristics and outcome of a new entity
Juan M. Pericàs,Jaume Llopis,Carlos Cervera,Emilio Sacanella,Carlos Falces,Rut Andrea,Cristina Garcia de la Maria,Salvador Ninot,Barbara Vidal,Manel Almela,J.C. Paré,Manel Sabaté,Asunción Moreno,Francesc Marco,Carlos A. Mestres,José M. Miró +15 more
TL;DR: TAVI-associated endocarditis is an emerging entity with high mortality and Surgical treatment provided better outcomes even in patients in whom surgery had previously been ruled out.
