Journal ArticleDOI
Proteomics turns functional.
TL;DR: Several approaches that allow proteomics to turn functional are explored, providing the biologist important insights into current applications of several proteomic approaches that could offer new strategies to investigate biological systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial alterations in Parkinson's disease human samples and cellular models.
TL;DR: The study suggests that the mitochondrial molecular landscape of Substantia nigra specimens of PD patients can be mirrored by the impaired dopamine homeostasis cellular model, thus supporting the hypothesis that alterations in this process could be a crucial pathogenetic event in PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rewiring of the Human Mitochondrial Interactome during Neuronal Reprogramming Reveals Regulators of the Respirasome and Neurogenesis.
Mohamed Taha Moutaoufik,Ramy H. Malty,Shahreen Amin,Qingzhou Zhang,Sadhna Phanse,Alla Gagarinova,Mara Zilocchi,Larissa Hoell,Zoran Minic,Maria Gagarinova,Hiroyuki Aoki,Jocelyn Stockwell,Matthew Jessulat,Florian Goebels,Kirsten Broderick,Nichollas E. Scott,James Vlasblom,Gabriel Musso,Bhanu Prasad,Eleonora Lamantea,Barbara Garavaglia,Alex Rajput,Kei Murayama,Yasushi Okazaki,Leonard J. Foster,Gary D. Bader,Francisco S. Cayabyab,Mohan Babu +27 more
TL;DR: Using mass spectrometry-based co-fractionation profiles and phosphoproteomics, mitochondrial interaction maps of human pluripotent embryonal carcinoma stem cells and differentiated neuronal-like cells are generated and show the orphan C20orf24 as a respirasome assembly factor whose disruption markedly reduces respiratory chain activity in patients deficient in complex IV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward the Standardization of Mitochondrial Proteomics: The Italian Mitochondrial Human Proteome Project Initiative
Tiziana Alberio,Luisa Pieroni,Maurizio Ronci,Cristina Banfi,Italia Bongarzone,Patrizia Bottoni,Maura Brioschi,Marianna Caterino,Clizia Chinello,Antonella Cormio,Flora Cozzolino,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Simona Fontana,Barbara Garavaglia,Laura Giusti,Viviana Greco,Antonio Lucacchini,Elisa Maffioli,Fulvio Magni,Francesca Monteleone,Maria Chiara Monti,Valentina Monti,Clara Musicco,Giuseppe Petrosillo,Vito Porcelli,Rosaria Saletti,Roberto Scatena,Alessio Soggiu,Gabriella Tedeschi,Mara Zilocchi,Paola Roncada,Andrea Urbani,Mauro Fasano +32 more
TL;DR: The overall number of identified total and mitochondrial proteins was not significantly dependent on the enrichment protocol, but specific line to line differences were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dopamine induces mitochondrial depolarization without activating PINK1-mediated mitophagy.
Heather Bondi,Mara Zilocchi,Maria Gabriella Mare,Gianluca D'Agostino,Gianluca D'Agostino,Stefano Giovannardi,Santiago Ambrosio,Mauro Fasano,Tiziana Alberio +8 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that an improper handling of dysfunctional mitochondria may be a leading event in PD pathogenesis.
