Journal ArticleDOI
Association of BAFF/BLyS overexpression and altered B cell differentiation with Sjögren’s syndrome
Joanna R Groom,Susan L. Kalled,Anne H. Cutler,Carl Olson,Stephen A. Woodcock,Pascal Schneider,Jürg Tschopp,Teresa G. Cachero,Marcel Batten,Julie Wheway,Davide Mauri,Dana Cavill,Tom P. Gordon,Charles R. Mackay,Fabienne Mackay +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that BAFF Tg mice, as they age, develop a secondary pathology reminiscent of Sjögren's syndrome, and altered B cell differentiation and tolerance induced by excess BAFF may be central to SS pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin 27 limits autoimmune encephalomyelitis by suppressing the development of interleukin 17-producing T cells.
Marcel Batten,Jianquan Li,Sothy Yi,Noelyn M. Kljavin,Dimitry M. Danilenko,Sophie Lucas,James Lee,Frederic J. de Sauvage,Nico Ghilardi +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that IL-27Rα-deficient mice were hypersusceptible to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis and generated more IL-17-producing T helper cells and suppressed IL-6-mediated T cell proliferation, providing a mechanistic explanation for theIL-27-mediated immune suppression noted in several in vivo models of inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
BAFF mediates survival of peripheral immature B lymphocytes.
Marcel Batten,Joanna R Groom,Teresa G. Cachero,Fang Qian,Pascal Schneider,Jürg Tschopp,Jeffrey L. Browning,Fabienne Mackay +7 more
TL;DR: A model in which excessive BAFF-mediated survival of peripheral immature B cells contributes to the emergence and maturation of autoreactive B cells, skewed towards the MZ compartment is supported, providing new clues on mechanisms regulating B cell maturation and tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Disrupted cardiac development but normal hematopoiesis in mice deficient in the second CXCL12/SDF-1 receptor, CXCR7
Frederic Sierro,Christine Biben,Laura Martínez-Muñoz,Mario Mellado,Richard M. Ransohoff,Meizhang Li,Blanche Woehl,Helen Leung,Joanna R Groom,Marcel Batten,Richard P. Harvey,Carlos Martínez-A,Charles R. Mackay,Fabienne Mackay +13 more
TL;DR: A specialized role for CxCR7 in endothelial biology and valve development is revealed and the distinct developmental role of evolutionary conserved chemokine receptors such as CXCR7 and CX CR4 is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
The origins, function, and regulation of T follicular helper cells.
Cindy S. Ma,Elissa K. Deenick,Elissa K. Deenick,Marcel Batten,Marcel Batten,Stuart G. Tangye,Stuart G. Tangye +6 more
TL;DR: Unraveling the cellular and molecular requirements underlying Tfh cell formation and maintenance will help to identify molecules that could be targeted for the treatment of immunological diseases that are characterized by insufficient or excessive Ab responses.
