TL;DR: This unique global source of childhood cancer incidence will be used for aetiological research and to inform public health policy, potentially contributing towards attaining several targets of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent changes in breast cancer incidence in Spain, 1980-2004.
Marina Pollán,Roberto Pastor-Barriuso,Eva Ardanaz,Marcial Argüelles,Carmen Martos,Jaume Galceran,María-José Sánchez-Pérez,María Dolores Chirlaque,Nerea Larrañaga,Ruth Martínez-Cobo,María-Cres Tobalina,Enrique Vidal,Rafael Marcos-Gragera,A. TL;DR: The recent downturn in breast cancer incidence among Spanish women older than 45 years is best explained by a period effect linked to screening saturation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inflammatory markers and risk of epithelial ovarian cancer by tumor subtypes: the EPIC cohort
Jennifer Ose,Helena Schock,Anne Tjønneland,Louise Hansen,Kim Overvad,Laure Dossus,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Laura Baglietto,Heiner Boeing,Antonia Trichopolou,Antonia Trichopolou,Vassiliki Benetou,Pagona Lagiou,Pagona Lagiou,Pagona Lagiou,Giovanna Masala,Giovanna Tagliabue,Rosario Tumino,Carlotta Sacerdote,Amalia Mattiello,H. TL;DR: The data suggest that high CRP is associated with increased risk of overall EOC, and that IL6 and CRP may be associated with EOC risk among women with higher adiposity, and add to global evidence that ovarian carcinogenesis may be promoted by an inflammatory milieu.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigating sources of variability in metabolomic data in the EPIC study : the Principal Component Partial R-square (PC-PR2) method
Anne Fages,Pietro Ferrari,Stefano Monni,Laure Dossus,Laure Dossus,Anna Floegel,Nicolle A. Mode,Mattias Johansson,Mattias Johansson,Ruth C. Travis,Christina Bamia,María-José Sánchez-Pérez,Paolo Chiodini,Hendriek C. Boshuizen,Marc Chadeau-Hyam,Elio Riboli,Mazda Jenab,Bénédicte Elena-Herrmann +17 more
TL;DR: The Principal Component Partial R-square (PC-PR2) method combines features of principal component and of multivariable linear regression analyses to evaluate the variability of metabolomic data in terms of characteristics of individuals or aspects pertaining to technical processing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Breast cancer incidence in Spain before, during and after the implementation of screening programmes
Marina Pollán,M. J. Michelena,Eva Ardanaz,Angel Izquierdo,María-José Sánchez-Pérez,A. Torrella +5 more
TL;DR: Screening has strongly influenced recent BC trends among Spanish women aged > or =45 years and the results support the influence of screening saturation on the recent decline of BC.
