Nicolas Wentzensen,Elizabeth M. Poole,Britton Trabert,Emily White,Alan A. Arslan,Alpa V. Patel,V. Wendy Setiawan,Kala Visvanathan,Elisabete Weiderpass,Hans-Olov Adami,Hans-Olov Adami,Amanda Black,Leslie Bernstein,Louise A. Brinton,Julie E. Buring,Lesley M. Butler,Saioa Chamosa,Tess V. Wilkens,Alicja Wolk,Hannah P. Yang,Anne Zeleniuch-Jacquotte,Shelley S. Tworoger +54 more
TL;DR: Most established risk factors were more strongly associated with nonserous carcinomas, which demonstrate challenges for risk prediction of serous cancers, the most fatal subtype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Body mass index, circulating levels of sex-steroid hormones, IGF-I and IGF-binding protein-3: a cross-sectional study in healthy women.
Annekatrin Lukanova,Annekatrin Lukanova,Eva Lundin,Anne Zeleniuch-Jacquotte,Paola Muti,A. Mure,A. Mure,S. Rinaldi,Laure Dossus,Andrea Micheli,Alan A. Arslan,Per Lenner,Roy E. Shore,Vittorio Krogh,K. L. Koenig,Elio Riboli,Franco Berrino,Göran Hallmans,P. Stattin,P. Stattin,Paolo Toniolo,Rudolf Kaaks +21 more
TL;DR: Circulating IGF-I, androgens and SHBG appear to be related to each other in post-menopausal women, offering evidence that obesity may influence the levels of endogenous sex-steroid and IGF-related hormones in the circulation, especially after menopause.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reproductive risk factors and endometrial cancer: the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition.
Laure Dossus,Naomi E. Allen,Rudolf Kaaks,Kjersti Bakken,Eiliv Lund,Anne Tjønneland,Anja Olsen,Kim Overvad,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Agnès Fournier,Nathalie Chabbert-Buffet,Heiner Boeing,Madlen Schütze,Antonia Trichopoulou,Dimitrios Trichopoulos,Pagona Lagiou,Domenico Palli,Vittorio Krogh,Rosario Tumino,Paolo Vineis,Amalia Mattiello,H. Key,Veronique Chajes,Veronique Chajes,Sabina Rinaldi,Nadia Slimani,Traci Mouw,Valentina Gallo,Elio Riboli +45 more
TL;DR: A reduction in risk of endometrial cancer with factors associated with a lower cumulative exposure to estrogen and/or higher exposure to progesterone, such as increasing number of FTPs and shorter menstrual lifespan is confirmed and support an important role of hormonal mechanisms inendometrial carcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endogenous sex hormones and endometrial cancer risk in women in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC)
Naomi E. Allen,Timothy J. Key,Laure Dossus,Sabina Rinaldi,Anne E. Cust,Anne E. Cust,Anne E. Cust,Annekatrin Lukanova,Petra H.M. Peeters,N. Charlotte Onland-Moret,Petra H. Bas Bueno-de-Mesquita,Antonia Trichopoulou,Dimitiros Trichopoulos,Androniki Naska,Rosario Tumino,Elio Riboli,Rudolf Kaaks +38 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the association between prediagnostic serum concentrations of sex steroids and endometrial cancer risk was analyzed in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition using a nested case-control design of 247 incident Endometrial Cancer cases and 481 controls, matched on center, menopausal status, age, variables relating to blood collection and, for premenopausal women, phase of menstrual cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long Noncoding RNA TARID Directs Demethylation and Activation of the Tumor Suppressor TCF21 via GADD45A
Khelifa Arab,Yoon Jung Park,Anders Lindroth,Andrea I. Schäfer,Christopher C. Oakes,Dieter Weichenhan,Annekatrin Lukanova,Eva Lundin,Angela Risch,Michael Meister,Hendrik Dienemann,Gerhard Dyckhoff,Christel Herold-Mende,Ingrid Grummt,Christof Niehrs,Christoph Plass +15 more
TL;DR: A function of lncRNAs is revealed, serving as a genomic address label for GADD45A-mediated demethylation of specific target genes in TCF21 genes.
