The future of Blue Carbon science
Peter I. Macreadie,Andrea Anton,John A. Raven,John A. Raven,John A. Raven,Nicola Beaumont,Rod M. Connolly,Daniel A. Friess,Jeffrey J. Kelleway,Hilary Kennedy,Tomohiro Kuwae,Paul S. Lavery,Catherine E. Lovelock,Dan A. Smale,Eugenia T. Apostolaki,Trisha B. Atwood,Jeff Baldock,Thomas S. Bianchi,Gail L. Chmura,Bradley D. Eyre,James W. Fourqurean,James W. Fourqurean,Jason M. Patrick Megonigal,Daniel Murdiyarso,Daniel Murdiyarso,Bayden D. Russell,Rui Santos,Oscar Serrano,Brian R. Silliman,Kenta Watanabe,Carlos M. Duarte +42 more
TL;DR: The authors identify the top-ten unresolved questions in the field and find that most questions relate to the precise role blue carbon can play in mitigating climate change and the most effective management actions in maximising this.

Framework for understanding marine ecosystem health
Paul Tett,R. J. Gowen,S. J. Painting,Michael Elliott,Rodney M. Forster,David Mills,Eileen Bresnan,Elisa Capuzzo,Teresa F. Fernandes,Jo Foden,Richard J. Geider,Linda Gilpin,Mark Huxham,Abigail McQuatters-Gollop,S.J. Malcolm,S. Saux-Picart,Trevor Platt,Marie-Fanny Racault,Shubha Sathyendranath,J. van der Molen,Martin Wilkinson +20 more
TL;DR: The need for institutional support for long time-series to underpin this approach, and for research to establish state space co-ordinates for systems in good health, is identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do Parasites Reduce the Chances of Triangulation in a Real Food Web
TL;DR: A continuous measure of niche overlap is developed, by calculating the number of non-triangulated quads (the simplest structure that confounds intervality) in a web, which indicates that parasites do not reduce the chances ofIntervality merely because of their smaller body sizes, butBecause of their complex life cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity, biomass and ecosystem processes in the marine benthos.
TL;DR: The results suggest that diversity/biomass/ecosystem function relationships in the soft sediment benthos are likely to be very complex and may depend more on functional groups than species richness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping of mangrove forest land cover change along the Kenya coastline using Landsat imagery
K.B. Kirui,James Gitundu Kairo,Jared O. Bosire,Karin Viergever,S. Rudra,Mark Huxham,Robert A. Briers +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimated the total extent of Kenyan mangroves at four points in time (1985, 1992, 2000 and 2010) using Landsat satellite imagery and revealed that Kenya shows rates of decline similar to (although slower than) global estimates.
