TL;DR: The early introduction of peanuts significantly decreased the frequency of the development of peanut allergy among children at high risk for this allergy and modulated immune responses to peanuts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Consensus communication on early peanut introduction and the prevention of peanut allergy in high-risk infants.
David Fleischer,Scott H. Sicherer,Matthew Greenhawt,Dianne E. Campbell,Edmond Chan,Antonella Muraro,Susanne Halken,Yitzhak Katz,Motohiro Ebisawa,Lawrence F. Eichenfield,Hugh A. Antaya,Beth A. Drolet,Lanny Rosenwasser +43 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight emerging evidence to existing guidelines regarding potential benefits of supporting early, rather than delayed, peanut introduction during the period of complementary food introduction in infants, and provide interim guidance based on consensus among the following organizations.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: It is recommended that infants of any risk category for allergic disease should have a diverse diet, given no evidence of harm and some potential association of benefit in the prevention of particular allergic outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
EAACI position paper: Influence of dietary fatty acids on asthma, food allergy, and atopic dermatitis.
Carina Venter,Rosan Meyer,Bright I Nwaru,Caroline Roduit,Eva Untersmayr,Karine Adel-Patient,Ioana Agache,Carlo Agostoni,Carlo Agostoni,Cezmi A. Akdis,Stephan C. TL;DR: The potential role for dietary fatty acids, in the prevention and management of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergy, and atopic dermatitis is highlighted and individualized medical approaches should consider the inclusion of specific dietary factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allergen specificity of early peanut consumption and effect on development of allergic disease in the Learning Early About Peanut Allergy study cohort.
George Du Toit,Peter H. Sayre,Graham Roberts,Kaitie Lawson,Michelle L. Sever,Henry T. Bahnson,Helen R. Fisher,Mary Feeney,Suzana Radulovic,Monica Basting,Marshall Plaut,Gideon Lack +11 more
TL;DR: Early consumption of peanut in infants at high risk of peanut allergy does not prevent the development of other allergic disease, sensitization to other food allergens and aeroallergens, or reported allergic reactions to tree nuts and sesame, and peanut consumption does not hasten the resolution of eczema or egg allergy.
