Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of biogenic SnO2 nanoparticles and evaluation of thermal, rheological, antibacterial and antioxidant activities
Meena Kumari,Daizy Philip +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, quantum confined SnO 2 nanoparticles with tunable band gap were synthesized at room temperature using biogenic method and the crystalline and morphological changes during heat treatment of the synthesized samples were discussed using XRD and TEM analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ethanol and regulation of the NMDA receptor subunits in fetal cortical neurons.
Meena Kumari,Maharaj K. Ticku +1 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that up‐regulation of the NMDA receptor number seen in cultured cortical neurons after chronic ethanol treatment is due to the regulation ofThe NMDA R2B receptor subunit at the transcriptional level and that of theNMDA R1 subunit mainly at the posttranscriptional level.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Relationship Between Plasma Angiopoietin-like Protein 4 Levels, Angiopoietin-like Protein 4 Genotype, and Coronary Heart Disease Risk
Melissa C. Smart-Halajko,Marius R. Robciuc,Marius R. Robciuc,Jackie A. Cooper,Matti Jauhiainen,Matti Jauhiainen,Meena Kumari,Mika Kivimäki,Mika Kivimäki,Kay-Tee Khaw,Kay-Tee Khaw,S. Matthijs Boekholdt,S. Matthijs Boekholdt,Nicholas J. Wareham,Nicholas J. Wareham,Tom R. Gaunt,Ian N.M. Day,Peter S. Braund,Christopher P. Nelson,Alistair S. Hall,Nilesh J. Samani,Steve E. Humphries,Christian Ehnholm,Philippa J. Talmud +23 more
TL;DR: Circulating Angptl4 levels may not influence TG levels or CHD risk for the following reasons: (1) angiopoietin-like protein 4 levels were not correlated with TGs; (2) T266M, although associated with AngPTL4 levels, showed no association with plasma TGs%; and (3) TG-lowering E40K did not influence Angpt l4 levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recurrent short sleep, chronic insomnia symptoms and salivary cortisol: A 10-year follow-up in the Whitehall II study.
Jessica Abell,Martin J. Shipley,Jane E. Ferrie,Jane E. Ferrie,Mika Kivimäki,Meena Kumari,Meena Kumari +6 more
TL;DR: It was found long term sleep problems were associated with salivary cortisol, and chronic insomnia symptoms predicted a steeper morning rise in cortisol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dysregulation of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis and physical performance at older ages: An individual participant meta-analysis
Michael P. Gardner,Stafford L. Lightman,Avan Aihie Sayer,Cyrus Cooper,Rachel Cooper,Dorly J. H. Deeg,Shah Ebrahim,John Gallacher,Mika Kivimäki,Meena Kumari,Diana Kuh,Richard M. Martin,Geeske Peeters,Yoav Ben-Shlomo +13 more
TL;DR: Testing the hypothesis that dysregulation of the HPA axis, as indexed by patterns of diurnal cortisol release, is associated with worse physical performance in later life found little evidence of associations with balance or grip strength.
