Journal ArticleDOI
Social and psychosocial influences on inflammatory markers and vascular function in civil servants (the Whitehall II study).
Harry Hemingway,Martin J. Shipley,Michael J. Mullen,Meena Kumari,Eric J. Brunner,Mia Taylor,Ann E. Donald,John E. Deanfield,Michael Marmot +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that social position was inversely associated with interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein and that participants with mild depression had impaired endothelial function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic studies of accelerometer-based sleep measures yield new insights into human sleep behaviour
Samuel E. Jones,Vincent T. van Hees,Diego R. Mazzotti,Pedro Marques-Vidal,Séverine Sabia,Séverine Sabia,Ashley van der Spek,Hassan S. Dashti,Hassan S. Dashti,Jorgen Engmann,Desana Kocevska,Jessica Tyrrell,Robin N Beaumont,Melvyn Hillsdon,Katherine S. Ruth,Marcus A. Tuke,Hanieh Yaghootkar,Seth A. Sharp,Yingjie Ji,Jamie W. Harrison,Rachel M. TL;DR: Although accelerometer-derived measures of sleep are imperfect and may be affected by restless legs syndrome, these findings provide new biological insights into sleep compared to previous efforts based on self-report sleep measures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Porteous,Caroline Hayward,Pål Richard Romundstad,George Davey Smith,Marcus R. Munafò +61 more
TL;DR: Findings from Mendelian randomisation analyses do not support a causal role of smoking heaviness in the development of depression and anxiety.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apolipoprotein E genotype, cardiovascular biomarkers and risk of stroke: systematic review and meta-analysis of 14,015 stroke cases and pooled analysis of primary biomarker data from up to 60,883 individuals

M. Day,Aroon D. Hingorani,Juan P. Casas +48 more
TL;DR: A cross-domain concordance supports a causal role of LDL-C on ischaemic stroke and in people of European ancestry, APOE genotype showed a positive dose-response association with LDL- C, C-IMT and ischaemia stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI
The CIRCORT database: Reference ranges and seasonal changes in diurnal salivary cortisol derived from a meta-dataset comprised of 15 field studies.
