Responses of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to long-term inorganic and organic nutrient addition in a lowland tropical forest

TL;DR: Assessment of the influence of long-term inorganic and organic nutrient additions and nutrient depletion on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in a lowland tropical forest in Panama indicates that AM fungal communities are fine-tuned to nutrient regimes, and supports future studies aiming to link AMfungal community dynamics with ecosystem function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in soil carbon and nutrients following 6 years of litter removal and addition in a tropical semi-evergreen rain forest

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured soil carbon and nutrient concentrations at nine depths to 2m after 6 years of continuous litter removal and litter addition in a semi-evergreen rain forest in Panama.
Journal ArticleDOI

A phosphorus threshold for mycoheterotrophic plants in tropical forests

TL;DR: In a lowland tropical forest in Panama, the first systematic investigation into the influence of abiotic factors on the abundance and distribution of mycoheterotrophs is conducted, to ask whether the availability of nitrogen and phosphorus altered the occurrence of my coheterOTrophs and their AM fungal partners.
