Journal ArticleDOI

Drusen complement components C3a and C5a promote choroidal neovascularization

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that C3a and C5a are generated early in the course of laser-induced CNV, an accelerated model of neovascular AMD driven by VEGF and recruitment of leukocytes into the choroid, and that genetic ablation of receptors for C1a or C2a reduces VEGf expression, leukocyte recruitment, and CNV formation after laser injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enlargement of foveal avascular zone in diabetic eyes evaluated by en face optical coherence tomography angiography.

TL;DR: The data suggest that diabetic eyes show retinal microcirculation impairment in the macula even before retinopathy develops, suggesting that en face OCTA is a useful noninvasive screening tool for detecting early microcirculatory disturbance in patients with diabetes.
