Journal ArticleDOI
Range-Wide Snow Leopard Phylogeography Supports Three Subspecies.
Jan E. Janecka,Yuguang Zhang,Diqiang Li,Bariushaa Munkhtsog,Munkhtsog Bayaraa,Naranbaatar Galsandorj,Tshewang R Wangchuk,Dibesh Karmacharya,Juan Li,Juan Li,Juan Li,Zhi Lu,Kubanychbek Zhumabai Uulu,Ajay Gaur,Satish Kumar,Kesav Kumar,Shafqat Hussain,Ghulam Muhammad,Matthew Jevit,Charlotte E. Hacker,Pamela A. Burger,Claudia Wultsch,Mary J. Janecka,Kristofer M. Helgen,William J. Murphy,Rodney M. Jackson +25 more
TL;DR: The first range-wide genetic assessment ofSnow leopards based on noninvasive scat surveys provides a foundation for global conservation of snow leopard subspecies, and set the stage for in-depth landscape genetics and genomic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genomic patterns in the widespread Eurasian lynx shaped by Late Quaternary climatic fluctuations and anthropogenic impacts.
Maria Lucena-Perez,Elena Marmesat,Daniel Kleinman-Ruiz,Begoña Martínez-Cruz,Karolina Węcek,Alexander P. Saveljev,Ivan V. Seryodkin,Ivan V. Seryodkin,Innokentiy M. Okhlopkov,Mikhail G. Dvornikov,Janis Ozolins,Naranbaatar Galsandorj,Milan Paunović,Mirosław Ratkiewicz,Krzysztof Schmidt,José A. Godoy +15 more
TL;DR: The results show that Eurasian lynx populations shared a common history until 100,000 years ago, when Asian and European populations started to diverge and both entered a period of continuous and widespread decline, with western populations, except Kirov, maintaining lower effective sizes than eastern populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coat Polymorphism in Eurasian Lynx: Adaptation to Environment or Phylogeographic Legacy?
Romane Darul,Alexander Gavashelishvili,Alexander P. Saveljev,Ivan V. Seryodkin,John D. C. Linnell,Henryk Okarma,Guna Bagrade,Aivars Ornicans,Janis Ozolins,Peep Männil,Igor Khorozyan,Dime Melovski,Aleksandar Stojanov,Aleksandër Trajçe,Bledi Hoxha,Mikhail G. Pkhitikov,Mohammad S. Farhadinia,José A. Godoy,Tomáš Jászay,Mirosław Ratkiewicz,Krzysztof Schmidt +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the relationship between the variability and contemporary distribution of pelage phenotypes in one of the most widely distributed felid species and an array of environmental and demographic conditions, and showed how the global patterns of morphological variability in this large mammal and its environmental adaptations may have been shaped by past climatic change.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Global Environment Facility, United Nations Development Program and Snow Leopard Trust for supporting the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program and development of tools and methods for Population Assessment of the World's Snow leopards (PAWS) as mentioned in this paper.
