Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of 17q21 variants and smoking exposure in early-onset asthma.
Emmanuelle Bouzigon,Eve Corda,Hugues Aschard,Marie-Hélène Dizier,Anne Boland,Jean Bousquet,Nicolas Chateigner,Frédéric Gormand,Jocelyne Just,Nicole Le Moual,Pierre Scheinmann,Valérie Siroux,Daniel Vervloet,Diana Zelenika,Isabelle Pin,Francine Kauffmann,G. Mark Lathrop,Florence Demenais +17 more
TL;DR: This study shows that the increased risk of asthma conferred by 17q21 genetic variants is restricted to early-onset asthma and that the risk is further increased by early-life exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ambient air pollution and adult asthma incidence in six European cohorts (ESCAPE).
Bénédicte Jacquemin,Valérie Siroux,Margaux Sanchez,Anne-Elie Carsin,Tamara Schikowski,Martin Adam,Valeria Bellisario,Anna Buschka,Roberto Bono,Bert Brunekreef,Yutong Cai,Marta Cirach,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Christophe Declercq,Roberto de Marco,Audrey de Nazelle,Regina E. TL;DR: Results suggest a deleterious effect of ambient air pollution on asthma incidence in adults, and improved personal-level exposure assessment and phenotypic characterization is needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of an asthma specific job exposure matrix and its application in the epidemiological study of genetics and environment in asthma (EGEA)
TL;DR: This asthma JEM, when enhanced by expert re-evaluation of exposure estimates from job title texts, may be a useful tool in general population studies of asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
The healthy worker effect in asthma: work may cause asthma, but asthma may also influence work.
TL;DR: The HWE is described as it relates to asthma research, and the significance of taking HWE bias into account in designing and interpreting asthma studies is discussed, as well as the importance of understanding Hwe bias for public health practitioners and for clinicians.
Journal ArticleDOI
