Variation of Genomic Sites Associated with Severe Covid-19 Across Populations: Global and National Patterns.
Oleg Balanovsky,Valeria Petrushenko,K. B. Mirzaev,Sherzod Abdullaev,Igor Gorin,Denis Chernevskiy,A. T. Agdzhoyan,Elena Balanovska,A. V. Kryukov,Ilyas I. Temirbulatov,Dmitriy A. Sychev +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the distribution of clinically significant genetic markers in different populations may be helpful in elaborating personalized approaches to the clinical management of COVID-19 in the absence of consensus guidelines.
Journal ArticleDOI
[The haplomatch program for comparing Y-chromosome STR-haplotypes and its application to the analysis of the origin of Don Cossacks].
Marina Chukhryaeva,I. O. Ivanov,S. A. Frolova,S. M. Koshel,Olga Utevska,R. A. Skhalyakho,A. T. Agdzhoyan,Yu. V. Bogunov,Elena Balanovska,Oleg Balanovsky +9 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the STR haplotypes detects genetic proximity of Cossack to East Slavic populations, which confirms the hypothesis of the origin of the Cossacks mainly due to immigration from Russia and Ukraine.

The genetic prehistory of the Greater Caucasus

Buzhilova,Viktor Trifonov,Ron Pinhasi,Andrej Belinskij,David Reich,Svend Hansen,Johannes Krause,Wolfgang Haak +54 more
TL;DR: The steppe groups from Yamnaya and subsequent pastoralist cultures show evidence for previously undetected farmer-related ancestry from different contact zones, while Steppe Maykop individuals harbour additional Upper Palaeolithic Siberian and Native American related ancestry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of genetic diversity of Russian regional populations based on STR markers used in DNA identification
V. Yu. Pesik,V. Yu. Pesik,A. A. Fedunin,A. T. Agdzhoyan,Olga Utevska,Olga Utevska,M. I. Chukhraeva,M. I. Chukhraeva,Irina Evseeva,Mikhail Churnosov,I. N. Lependina,Yu. V. Bogunov,Anna A. Bogunova,M. A. Ignashkin,N. K. Yankovsky,Elena Balanovska,V. A. Orekhov,Oleg Balanovsky,Oleg Balanovsky +18 more
TL;DR: It is found that, although multidimensional analysis indicated a difference between the Northern Russian gene pool and the rest of the Russian European populations, a pairwise comparison using 19 STR markers among all populations did not reveal significant differences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic ecological monitoring in human populations: Heterozygosity, mtDNA haplotype variation, and genetic load
Oleg Balanovsky,Oleg Balanovsky,S. M. Koshel,Valery Zaporozhchenko,Andrey Pshenichnov,S. A. Frolova,M. A. Kuznetsova,E. E. Baranova,I. E. Teuchezh,A. A. Kuznetsova,A. A. Kuznetsova,M. V. Romashkina,M. V. Romashkina,Olga Utevska,Michail Churnosov,Richard Villems,Elena Balanovska +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new dataset on mtDNA variation in East European ethnic groups was used to analyze the ecology-driven changes in the gene pool and found a significant correlation observed between the incidence of autosomal recessive hereditary diseases and mtDNA haplotype diversity.
