Journal ArticleDOI
Synthetic chalcones, flavanones, and flavones as antitumoral agents: biological evaluation and structure-activity relationships.
Mauricio Cabrera,Macarena Simoens,Gabriela Falchi,M. Laura Lavaggi,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Anabel Vidal,Amaia Azqueta,Antonio Monge,Adela López de Cerain,Gabriel Sagrera,Gustavo Seoane,Hugo Cerecetto,Mercedes González +13 more
TL;DR: A series of synthetic chalcones, flavanones, and flavones has been synthesized and evaluated for antitumor activity against the human kidney carcinoma cells TK-10, human mammary adenocarcinoma cells MCF-7 (estrogen receptor-positive), and human colon adenOCarcinomas cells HT-29.
Journal ArticleDOI
Palladium(II) complexes of 2-benzoylpyridine-derived thiosemicarbazones: spectral characterization, structural studies and cytotoxic activity.
Anayive P. Rebolledo,Marisol Vieites,Dinorah Gambino,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Carlos L. Zani,Elaine Maria de Souza-Fagundes,Letícia R. Teixeira,Alzir A. Batista,Heloisa Beraldo +9 more
TL;DR: All complexes show a quite similar planar fourfold environment around palladium(II).
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel antitrypanosomal agents based on palladium nitrofurylthiosemicarbazone complexes: DNA and redox metabolism as potential therapeutic targets.
Lucía Otero,Marisol Vieites,Lucía Boiani,Ana Denicola,Carolina Rigol,Lucía Opazo,Claudio Olea-Azar,Juan Diego Maya,Antonio Morello,R Luise Krauth-Siegel,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Mercedes González,Dinorah Gambino,Hugo Cerecetto +14 more
TL;DR: Although the complexes showed strong DNA binding, all data strongly suggest that the main trypanocidal mechanism of action is the production of oxidative stress as a result of their bioreduction and extensive redox cycling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes with 2-benzoylpyridine-methyl hydrazone
Angel A. Recio Despaigne,Jeferson G. Da Silva,Ana Cerúlia M. do Carmo,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Heloisa Beraldo +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the crystal structures of 2-Benzoylpyridine-methyl hydrazone (HBzMe) have been determined and its copper(II) [Cu(Bzme)Cl2] (1) and zinc(II] [Zn(HBzME)Cl 2] (2) complexes have been obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI
Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes with 2-formylpyridine-derived hydrazones
Angel A. Recio Despaigne,Jeferson G. Da Silva,Ana Cerúlia M. do Carmo,F. R. Sives,Oscar E. Piro,Eduardo E. Castellano,Heloisa Beraldo +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the crystal structures of 2-formylpyridine-para-chloro-phenyl hydrazone (H2FopClPh) and H2FOPNO2Ph were obtained, as well as their copper and zinc complexes.
