Defining Opportunistic Invasive Fungal Infections in Immunocompromised Patients with Cancer and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplants: An International Consensus
Sibel Ascioglu,John H. Rex,B.E. de Pauw,John E. Bennett,J. Bille,F. Crokaert,David W. Denning,J.P. Donnelly,J. E. Edwards,Z. Erjavec,D. Fiere,O. Lortholary,Johan Maertens,Jacques F. Meis,Thomas F. Patterson,J. Ritter,D. Selleslag,Palak Shah,David A. Stevens,Thomas J. Walsh +19 more
TL;DR: A set of research-oriented definitions for the IFIs most often seen and studied in immunocompromised patients with cancer is proposed and three levels of probability are proposed: "proven," "probable," and "possible."
Journal ArticleDOI
Beta 1- and beta 2-adrenergic-receptor subpopulations in nonfailing and failing human ventricular myocardium: coupling of both receptor subtypes to muscle contraction and selective beta 1-receptor down-regulation in heart failure.
Michael R. Bristow,Robert Ginsburg,V A Umans,Michael B. Fowler,Wayne Minobe,R Rasmussen,P Zera,Ronald L. Menlove,Palak Shah,Stuart W. Jamieson +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that failing human ventricular myocardium contains a relatively high proportion of beta 2 receptors, due to selective down-regulation of beta 1 receptors, and is available for inotropic stimulation by selective beta 2 agonists.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Intermacs 2020 Annual Report
Ezequiel J. Molina,Palak Shah,Michael S. Kiernan,William K. Cornwell,Hannah Copeland,Koji Takeda,Felix G. Fernandez,Vinay Badhwar,Robert H. Habib,Jeffrey P. Jacobs,Devin Koehl,James K. Kirklin,Francis D. Pagani,Jennifer A Cowger +13 more
TL;DR: The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS)-Interagency Registry for Mechanically Assisted Circulatory Support (Intermacs) 2020 Annual Report reviews outcomes on 25,551 patients undergoing primary isolated continuous-flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation between 2010 and 2019 as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardized Team-Based Care for Cardiogenic Shock
Behnam Tehrani,Alexander G. Truesdell,Matthew W. Sherwood,Shashank Desai,Henry A. Tran,Kelly Epps,Ramesh Singh,Mitchell A. Psotka,Palak Shah,Lauren B. Cooper,Carolyn Rosner,Anika Raja,Scott D. Barnett,Patricia Saulino,Christopher DeFilippi,Paul A. Gurbel,Charles Murphy,Christopher M. O'Connor +17 more
TL;DR: A score incorporating demographic, laboratory, and hemodynamic data may be used to quantify risk and guide clinical decision-making for all phenotypes of CS and suggests that a standardized team-based approach may improve CS outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
