Monier-Garbet,Rudolf Neu,H.D. Pacher,B. Pégourié,R.A. Pitts,Shuichi Takamura,J. L. Terry,E. Tsitrone +35 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the processes that will determine the properties of the plasma edge and its interaction with material elements in ITER and compare their predictions with the new experimental results.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Plasma Boundary of Magnetic Fusion Devices
TL;DR: Stangeby et al. as mentioned in this paper have published a book on the boundary of magnetic fusion devices, The Plasma Boundary of Magnetic Fusion Devices is a challenge and few others than Peter Stangeby would have been capable of such a task.
Journal ArticleDOI
A drift-kinetic semi-Lagrangian 4D code for ion turbulence simulation
Virginie Grandgirard,Maura Brunetti,Pierre Bertrand,Nicolas Besse,Xavier Garbet,Philippe Ghendrih,Giovanni Manfredi,Yanick Sarazin,Olivier Sauter,Eric Sonnendrücker,Jan Vaclavik,Laurent Villard +11 more
TL;DR: The Gyrokinetic SEmi-LAgragian (GYSELA) code, which solves 4D drift-kinetic equations for ion temperature gradient driven turbulence in a cylinder, is found to be stable over long simulation times, including for cases with a high resolution mesh.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stangeby,Shuichi Takamura,Tetsuo Tanabe,Y. Yang,S. Zhu +46 more
TL;DR: In this article, a review of recent work in scrape-off layer (SOL) and divertor physics is presented, where new and existing data from a variety of experiments have been used to make cross-experiment comparisons with implications for further research and ITER.
Journal ArticleDOI
A 5D gyrokinetic full- f global semi-Lagrangian code for flux-driven ion turbulence simulations
Virginie Grandgirard,J. Abiteboul,Julien Bigot,T. Cartier-Michaud,Nicolas Crouseilles,Guilhem Dif-Pradalier,C. Ehrlacher,D. Esteve,Xavier Garbet,Philippe Ghendrih,Guillaume Latu,Michel Mehrenberger,C. Norscini,C. Passeron,Fabien Rozar,Yanick Sarazin,Eric Sonnendrücker,Antoine Strugarek,David Zarzoso +18 more
TL;DR: This paper addresses non-linear gyrokinetic simulations of ion temperature gradient (ITG) turbulence in tokamak plasmas by presenting a complete description of the electrostatic Gysela code's multi-ion species version including a numerical scheme, high level of parallelism up to 500k cores and conservation law properties.
