Optimal sampling designs for estimation of Plasmodium falciparum clearance rates in patients treated with artemisinin derivatives
Jennifer A. Flegg,Philippe J Guerin,François Nosten,François Nosten,Elizabeth A. Ashley,Elizabeth A. Ashley,A P Phyo,Arjen M. Dondorp,Arjen M. Dondorp,Rick M. Fairhurst,Duong Socheat,Steffen Borrmann,Anders Björkman,Andreas Mårtensson,Mayfong Mayxay,Paul N. Newton,Paul N. Newton,Delia Bethell,Youry Se,Harald Noedl,Mahamadou Diakite,Abdoulaye Djimde,Tran Tinh Hien,Nicholas J. White,Nicholas J. White,Kasia Stepniewska +25 more
TL;DR: This study has revealed important insights on sampling schedules for accurate and reliable estimation of Plasmodium falciparum half-life following treatment with an artemisinin derivative (alone or in combination with a partner drug).
Journal ArticleDOI
Conservation and diversity of the IrrE/DdrO-controlled radiation response in radiation-resistant Deinococcus bacteria.
Laurence Blanchard,Laurence Blanchard,Philippe J Guerin,David Roche,Stéphane Cruveiller,David Pignol,David Pignol,David Vallenet,Jean Armengaud,Arjan de Groot,Arjan de Groot +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that addition of zinc ions to purified apo‐IrrE, and short exposure of Deinococcus cells to zinc ions, resulted in cleavage of DdrO in vitro and in vivo, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of new Salmonella Enteritidis phage types in Europe? Surveillance of infections in returning travellers.
Karin Nygård,Birgitta de Jong,Philippe J Guerin,Yvonne Andersson,Agneta Olsson,Johan Giesecke +5 more
TL;DR: Surveillance of infections among returning travellers can be helpful in detecting emerging infections and outbreaks in tourist destinations and communicating rapidly to all affected countries in order to expedite the implementation of appropriate investigations and preventive measures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shotgun nanoLC-MS/MS proteogenomics to document MALDI-TOF biomarkers for screening new members of the Ruegeria genus.
Joseph Alexander Christie-Oleza,Juana Maria Piña-Villalonga,Philippe J Guerin,Guylaine Miotello,Rafael Bosch,Balbina Nogales,Jean Armengaud +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that five biomarkers, which give rise to 10 m/z peak signals derived from the mono- and doubly protonated proteins, are the best candidates for identifying bacteria belonging to the Ruegeria genus, and quickly assessed their phylogenetic proximity to described species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global resistance surveillance: ensuring antimalarial efficacy in the future.
TL;DR: The translation of increased access to data on health outcomes into usable evidence for rational policy and planning requires a global coordination and communication effort.
