Monitoring antimalarial resistance: launching a cooperative effort

TL;DR: A collaborative effort between the Global Malaria Program of the World Health Organization and the WorldWide Antimalarial Resistance Network has recently been launched to create a global, comprehensive, and inclusive network that will provide quality-assured information on antimalarial drug resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI

PprA Protein Is Involved in Chromosome Segregation via Its Physical and Functional Interaction with DNA Gyrase in Irradiated Deinococcus radiodurans Bacteria.

TL;DR: It is suggested that PprA plays a major role in chromosome decatenation via its interaction with the deinococcal DNA gyrase when D. radiodurans cells are recovering from exposure to ionizing radiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surveillance of travellers: an additional tool for tracking antimalarial drug resistance in endemic countries.

TL;DR: The results have not shown different trends in resistance between parasites derived from travellers or from parasites within-country, and highlights the value of an international database of drug responses in travellers as an additional tool to assess the emergence of drug resistance in endemic areas where information is limited.
Journal ArticleDOI

Outbreak of Hepatitis E Virus Infection in Darfur, Sudan: Effectiveness of Real-Time Reverse Transcription-PCR Analysis of Dried Blood Spots

TL;DR: Biological samples collected in refugee camps during an outbreak of hepatitis E were used to compare the accuracy of hepatitisE virus RNA amplification by real-time reverse transcription-PCR for sera and dried blood spots.
