Contemporary Clinical Profile and Outcome of Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis
Andrew Wang,Eugene Athan,Paul A. Pappas,Vance G. Fowler,Lars Olaison,Carlos Paré,Benito Almirante,Patricia Muñoz,Marco Rizzi,Christopher Naber,Mateja Logar,Pierre Tattevin,Diana Iarussi,Christine Selton-Suty,Sandra Braun Jones,José H. Casabé,Arthur J. Morris,G. Ralph Corey,Christopher H. Cabell +18 more
TL;DR: Staphylococcus aureus is now the leading cause of Prosthetic valve endocarditis, and health care-associated infection significantly influences the clinical characteristics and outcome of PVE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emergence of resistance to antibacterial agents: the role of quaternary ammonium compounds—a critical review
TL;DR: A literature review on QAC chemical structure, fields of application, mechanism of action, susceptibility testing, prevalence, and co- or cross-resistance to antibiotics found that there is a lack of standardised procedures for interpreting susceptibility test results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymorphonuclear leukocytes mediate Staphylococcus aureus Panton-Valentine leukocidin-induced lung inflammation and injury
Binh An Diep,Liana Chan,Pierre Tattevin,Osamu Kajikawa,Thomas R. Martin,Li Basuino,Thuy T. Mai,Helene Marbach,Kevin R. Braughton,Adeline R. Whitney,Donald J. Gardner,Xuemo Fan,Ching W. Tseng,George Y. Liu,Cédric Badiou,Jerome Etienne,Gerard Lina,Michael A. Matthay,Frank R. DeLeo,Henry F. Chambers +19 more
TL;DR: A rabbit model of necrotizing pneumonia is developed to compare the virulence of a USA300 wild-type strain with that of isogenic PVL-deletion mutant and -complemented strains and demonstrate the utility of the rabbit for studying PV L-mediated pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early circulating lymphocyte apoptosis in human septic shock is associated with poor outcome.
Yves Le Tulzo,Céline Pangault,Arnaud Gacouin,Valérie Guilloux,Olivier Tribut,Laurence Amiot,Pierre Tattevin,R. Thomas,Renée Fauchet,Bernard Drenou +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that lymphocyte apoptosis is rapidly increased in blood of patients in septic shock and that lymphocytes apoptosis leads to a profound and persistent lymphopenia associated with poor outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal Trends in Infective Endocarditis in the Context of Prophylaxis Guideline Modifications: Three Successive Population-Based Surveys
Xavier Duval,Xavier Duval,François Delahaye,François Alla,Pierre Tattevin,Jean-François Obadia,Vincent Le Moing,Thanh Doco-Lecompte,Marie Célard,Claire Poyart,Claire Poyart,Christophe Strady,Catherine Chirouze,Michelle Bes,Emmanuelle Cambau,Bernard Iung,Christine Selton-Suty,Bruno Hoen +17 more
TL;DR: Scaling down antibiotic prophylaxis indications was not associated with an increased incidence of oral streptococcal IE, and a focus on avoidance of S. aureus bacteremia in all patients, including those with no previously known valve disease, will be required to improve IE prevention.
