Journal ArticleDOI

Emergence of resistance to antibacterial agents: the role of quaternary ammonium compounds—a critical review

TL;DR: A literature review on QAC chemical structure, fields of application, mechanism of action, susceptibility testing, prevalence, and co- or cross-resistance to antibiotics found that there is a lack of standardised procedures for interpreting susceptibility test results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymorphonuclear leukocytes mediate Staphylococcus aureus Panton-Valentine leukocidin-induced lung inflammation and injury

TL;DR: A rabbit model of necrotizing pneumonia is developed to compare the virulence of a USA300 wild-type strain with that of isogenic PVL-deletion mutant and -complemented strains and demonstrate the utility of the rabbit for studying PV L-mediated pathogenesis.
