Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in Beef Quality between Angus (Bos taurus taurus) and Nellore (Bos taurus indicus) Cattle through a Proteomic and Phosphoproteomic Approach.
Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Mario Luiz Chizzotti,Camilo Elber Vital,Maria Cristina Baracat-Pereira,Edvaldo Barros,Karina Costa Busato,R. A. Gomes,Márcio Machado Ladeira,T. S. Martins +8 more
TL;DR: Differences in phosphorylated proteins involved in contraction and muscle organization, myofilaments expressed in fast or slow-twitch fibers and heat shock proteins localized in mitochondria or sarcoplasmic reticulum and involved in cell flux of calcium and apoptosis might be associated with differences in beef quality between Angus and Nellore.
Journal ArticleDOI
Explaining meat quality of bulls and steers by differential proteome and phosphoproteome analysis of skeletal muscle.
L.H.P. Silva,L.H.P. Silva,Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Débora E.F. Assis,Pedro Del Bianco Benedeti,Pedro Del Bianco Benedeti,Marcio de Souza Duarte,Mario Luiz Chizzotti +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that abundance and phosphorylation of glycolytic enzymes are associated with changes in beef tenderness and intramuscular fat and the correlation between some biomarker and meat quality traits were confirmed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary supplementation with tannin and soybean oil on intake, digestibility, feeding behavior, ruminal protozoa and methane emission in sheep
Patrícia Rodrigues de Lima,T. Apdini,A.S. Freire,Aline Silva de Sant’ana,L.M.L. Moura,Julio Cesar Silva Nascimento,Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Jan Dijkstra,A.F. Garcez Neto,Mário Adriano Ávila Queiroz,Daniel Ribeiro Menezes +10 more
TL;DR: Evaluated the effect of supplementation with tannins extract or soybean oil, as well as their combination, on intake, digestibility, methane production, feeding behavior and rumen parameters in Santa Ines crossbred uncastrated male sheep.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentially expressed mRNAs, proteins and miRNAs associated to energy metabolism in skeletal muscle of beef cattle identified for low and high residual feed intake.
Elisa B Carvalho,Elisa B Carvalho,Mateus Pies Gionbelli,Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Sarah Figueiredo Martins Bonilha,Charles J. Newbold,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães,Walmir da Silva,L.L. Verardo,Fabyano Fonseca e Silva,Edenio Detmann,Marcio de Souza Duarte +12 more
TL;DR: The results show that Nellore cattle divergently identified for feed efficiency by RFI present changes in the abundance of proteins involved in energy expenditure in skeletal muscle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does sugar cane ensiled with calcium oxide affect intake, digestibility, performance, and microbial efficiency in beef cattle?
F. H. M. Chizzotti,Odilon Gomes Pereira,S.C. Valadares Filho,Mario Luiz Chizzotti,Rafael Torres de Souza Rodrigues,Luis O Tedeschi,Thiago Carvalho da Silva +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, two trials were conducted to evaluate how calcium oxide (CaO) as an additive in sugar cane silage affects animal performance and diet digestibility, and there was a linear positive effect of the percentage of CaO on the apparent total and ruminal digestibility of nutrients, ruminal characteristics, and microbial efficiency.
