The role of intracellular calcium phosphate in osteoblast-mediated bone apatite formation

TL;DR: A sample-preparation method that simultaneously preserved mineral, ions, and ECM with nano-analytical electron microscopy techniques to examine osteoblasts in an in vitro model of bone formation identified calcium phosphate both within osteoblast mitochondrial granules and intracellular vesicles that transported material to the ECM.
Journal ArticleDOI

TCF7L2 regulates late events in insulin secretion from pancreatic islet β-cells.

TL;DR: TCF7L2 is involved in maintaining expression of β-cell genes regulating secretory granule fusion, and defective insulin exocytosis may underlie increased diabetes incidence in carriers of the at-risk TCF 7L2 alleles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rad51 Paralogs Remodel Pre-synaptic Rad51 Filaments to Stimulate Homologous Recombination.

TL;DR: It is proposed that Rad51 paralogs stimulate HR by remodeling the Rad51 filament, priming it for strand exchange with the template duplex, demonstrating that remodeling is essential for RFS-1/RIP-1 function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trafficking of storage proteins in developing grain of wheat

TL;DR: These studies are in agreement with previous suggestions that two trafficking pathways occur in wheat, with the proteins either being transported via the Golgi apparatus into the vacuole or accumulating directly within the lumen of the ER, and suggest that the same individual protein could be trafficked by either pathway.
