Journal ArticleDOI
LINE1 Derepression in Aged Wild-Type and SIRT6-Deficient Mice Drives Inflammation
Matthew Simon,Michael Van Meter,Julia Ablaeva,Zhonghe Ke,Raul S. Gonzalez,Taketo Taguchi,Marco De Cecco,Katerina I. Leonova,Valeria Kogan,Stephen L. Helfand,Nicola Neretti,Asael Roichman,Haim Y. Cohen,Margarita Meer,Vadim N. Gladyshev,Marina P. Antoch,Andrei V. Gudkov,John M. Sedivy,Andrei Seluanov,Vera Gorbunova +19 more
TL;DR: It is reported that SIRT6-deficient cells and tissues accumulate abundant cytoplasmic L1 cDNA, which triggers strong type I interferon response via activation of cGAS, and modulating L1 activity may be an important strategy for attenuating age-related pathologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
PD-1 Inhibitor Gastroenterocolitis Case Series and Appraisal of “Immunomodulatory Gastroenterocolitis”
Raul S. Gonzalez,Safia N. Salaria,Caitlin D Bohannon,Aaron R Huber,Michael Feely,Chanjuan Shi +5 more
TL;DR: PD‐1 inhibitors facilitate immune response against certain tumour types, including melanoma, which have led to prolonged survival but can also result in autoimmune‐type side effects, including gastrointestinal inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ampullary region carcinomas: definition and site specific classification with delineation of four clinicopathologically and prognostically distinct subsets in an analysis of 249 cases.
Volkan Adsay,Nobuyuki Ohike,Takuma Tajiri,Grace E. Kim,Alyssa M. Krasinskas,Serdar Balci,Pelin Bagci,Olca Basturk,Sudeshna Bandyopadhyay,Kee Taek Jang,David A. Kooby,Shishir K. Maithel,Juan M. Sarmiento,Charles A. Staley,Raul S. Gonzalez,So Yeon Kong,Michael Goodman +16 more
TL;DR: Four clinicopathologic subtypes of primary AMP carcinomas are identified that are prognostically distinct and carried an intermediate prognosis to that seen among a group of 55 nonampullary duodenal carcinoma controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
SOX10 expression in malignant melanoma, carcinoma, and normal tissues
TL;DR: SOX10 is a sensitive, specific marker for melanoma, but as benign nevi also express SOX10, it cannot be used to differentiate between benign and malignant pigmented skin lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathologic staging of pancreatic, ampullary, biliary, and gallbladder cancers: pitfalls and practical limitations of the current AJCC/UICC TNM staging system and opportunities for improvement
N. Volkan Adsay,Pelin Bagci,Takuma Tajiri,Irma V. Oliva,Nobuyuki Ohike,Serdar Balci,Raul S. Gonzalez,Olca Basturk,Kee-Taek Jang,Juan Carlos Roa +9 more
TL;DR: The various issues encountered in staging of these tumors at the pathologic level are evaluated and possible solutions for daily practice as well as potential improvements for future staging protocols are discussed.
