Physical activity assessment by accelerometry in people with heart failure
Grace Olivia Dibben,Manish Gandhi,Rod S Taylor,Rod S Taylor,Hasnain M Dalal,Brad S. Metcalf,Patrick Doherty,Lars Hermann Tang,Lars Hermann Tang,Mark Kelson,Melvyn Hillsdon +10 more
TL;DR: H specific accelerometer intensity thresholds for inactivity and MVPA are lower than previously published thresholds based on healthy adults, due to lower resting metabolic rate and greater energy expenditure during daily living activities for HF patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation for stable angina: systematic review and meta-analysis.
Linda Long,Lindsey Anderson,jingzhou He,Manish Gandhi,Alice M Dewhirst,Charlene Bridges,Rod S Taylor +6 more
TL;DR: It is found low-quality evidence that exercise-based CR results in a moderate improvement in exercise capacity, and well-designed randomised controlled trials are needed to definitely determine the impact of CR on outcomes including mortality, morbidity, HRQoL, and costs in the population of patients with stable angina receiving contemporary medical therapy.
Journal Article
Clinical trials versus the real world : the example of cardiac rehabilitation
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the characteristics of patients and treatments offered in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in this area with those included in two large surveys of cardiac rehabilitation in the UK.
Journal ArticleDOI
Communicating the results of research: how do participants of a cardiac rehabilitation RCT prefer to be informed?
Hasnain M Dalal,Jennifer Wingham,Colin Pritchard,Sharon Northey,Philip Evans,Rod S Taylor,John Campbell +6 more
TL;DR: To determine the preferred means by which participants in a study of cardiac rehabilitation wish to be informed of the study’s results, a large sample of participants from around the world were surveyed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Update to the study protocol for a randomized controlled trial comparing mindfulness-based cognitive therapy with maintenance anti-depressant treatment depressive relapse/recurrence: the PREVENT trial
Willem Kuyken,Sarah Byford,Richard Byng,Tim Dalgleish,Glyn Lewis,Rod S Taylor,Edward R. Watkins,Rachel Hayes,Paul Lanham,David Kessler,Nicola Morant,Alison Evans +11 more
TL;DR: If the results of the exploratory trial are extended to this definitive trial, MBCT-TS will be established as an alternative approach to maintenance antidepressants for people with a history of recurrent depression.
