AMPK Is a Negative Regulator of the Warburg Effect and Suppresses Tumor Growth In Vivo
Brandon Faubert,Gino Boily,Said Izreig,Takla Griss,Bozena Samborska,Zhifeng Dong,Fanny Dupuy,Christopher Chambers,Benjamin J. Fuerth,Benoit Viollet,Benoit Viollet,Benoit Viollet,Orval A. Mamer,Daina Avizonis,Ralph J. DeBerardinis,Peter M. Siegel,Russell G. Jones +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that AMPK negatively regulates aerobic glycolysis (the Warburg effect) in cancer cells and suppresses tumor growth in vivo, and that its loss fosters tumor progression in part by regulating cellular metabolic pathways that support cell growth and proliferation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Loss of the tumor suppressor LKB1 promotes metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells via HIF-1α
Brandon Faubert,Emma E. Vincent,Takla Griss,Bozena Samborska,Said Izreig,Robert U. Svensson,Orval A. Mamer,Daina Avizonis,David B. Shackelford,Reuben J. Shaw,Russell G. Jones +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated here that loss of L KB1 expression in cancer cells promotes a progrowth metabolic profile that enables increased cell growth and proliferation, and implicates the tumor suppressor LKB1 as a central regulator of tumor metabolism and growth control through the regulation of HIF-1α–dependent metabolic reprogramming.
Journal ArticleDOI
The miR-17∼92 microRNA Cluster Is a Global Regulator of Tumor Metabolism
Said Izreig,Bozena Samborska,Radia M. Johnson,Alexey Sergushichev,Eric H. Ma,Carine Lussier,Ekaterina Loginicheva,Ariel O. Donayo,Maya C. Poffenberger,Selena M. Sagan,Emma E. Vincent,Maxim N. Artyomov,Thomas F. Duchaine,Russell G. Jones +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the miR-17 ∼ 92 microRNA (miRNA) cluster is an oncogenic driver of tumor metabolic reprogramming, which is a central hallmark of cancer cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
LKB1 deficiency in T cells promotes the development of gastrointestinal polyposis
Maya C. Poffenberger,A. Metcalfe-Roach,Esther Aguilar,Jocelyn Chen,Brian E. Hsu,Alison H-T Wong,Radia M. Johnson,Radia M. Johnson,Breanna R. Flynn,Bozena Samborska,Eric H. Ma,Simon-Pierre Gravel,Simon-Pierre Gravel,Luciana Tonelli,Lindsay DeVorkin,P. Kim,Anita Hall,Anita Hall,Said Izreig,Ekaterina Loginicheva,N. Beauchemin,Peter M. Siegel,Maxim N. Artyomov,Julian J. Lum,Julian J. Lum,George Zogopoulos,George Zogopoulos,Julianna Blagih,Russell G. Jones,Russell G. Jones +29 more
TL;DR: The results identify LKB1-mediated inflammation as a tissue-extrinsic regulator of intestinal polyposis in PJS, suggesting possible therapeutic approaches by targeting deregulated inflammation in this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19's Impact on the 2020-2021 Resident Match: A Survey of Otolaryngology Program Directors.
TL;DR: Virtual interviews and engagement activities will mostly supplant sub-Is and AR for the 2020-2021 OTO-HNS application cycle, and surveyed PDs largely believe these will be insufficient in providing a comprehensive assessment of candidates, and will similarly limit applicants’ ability to gauge residency programs.
