Journal ArticleDOI
Oncogene-induced senescence is a DNA damage response triggered by DNA hyper-replication
Raffaella Di Micco,Marzia Fumagalli,Angelo Cicalese,Sara Piccinin,Patrizia Gasparini,Chiara Luise,Catherine Schurra,Massimiliano Garrè,Paolo Nuciforo,Aaron Bensimon,Roberta Maestro,Pier Giuseppe Pelicci,Fabrizio d'Adda di Fagagna +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown that senescence, triggered by the expression of an activated oncogene (H-RasV12) in normal human cells, is a consequence of the activation of a robust DDR, and proposed that OIS results from the enforcement of a DDR triggered by oncogen-induced DNA hyper-replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of EMT by Twist Proteins as a Collateral Effect of Tumor-Promoting Inactivation of Premature Senescence
Stéphane Ansieau,Jérémy Bastid,Jérémy Bastid,Agnès Doreau,Anne Pierre Morel,Benjamin Pierre Bouchet,Benjamin Pierre Bouchet,Clémence Thomas,Clémence Thomas,Frédérique Fauvet,Isabelle Puisieux,Claudio Doglioni,Sara Piccinin,Roberta Maestro,Thibault Voeltzel,Abdelkader Selmi,Abdelkader Selmi,Sandrine Valsesia-Wittmann,Claude Caron de Fromentel,Alain Puisieux,Alain Puisieux +20 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a large fraction of human cancers overexpress Twist1 and/or Twist2, suggesting an unanticipated direct link between early escape from failsafe programs and the acquisition of invasive features by cancer cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coordinated expression and amplification of the MDM2, CDK4, and HMGI-C genes in atypical lipomatous tumours.
Angelo Paolo Dei Tos,Claudio Doglioni,Sara Piccinin,Raf Sciot,Alberto Furlanetto,Mauro Boiocchi,Paola Dal Cin,Roberta Maestro,Christopher D.M. Fletcher,Giovanni Tallini +9 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that ordinary lipomas may form a molecular genetic and morphological continuum with ALT is supported and the immunohistochemical analysis of mdm2 and cdk4 may help to increase diagnostic accuracy is indicated.
Journal Article
Overexpression of CDC25A and CDC25B in head and neck cancers.
Daniela Gasparotto,Roberta Maestro,Sara Piccinin,Tamara Vukosavljevic,Luigi Barzan,Sandro Sulfaro,Mauro Boiocchi +6 more
TL;DR: The expression of CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C genes in 20 squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck are analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR on the basis of the evidence that CDC25 phosphatases can act as oncogenes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transformation of normal human cells in the absence of telomerase activation
Yvette R. Seger,Yvette R. Seger,Marta García-Cao,Sara Piccinin,Crocifissa Lo Cunsolo,Claudio Doglioni,Maria A. Blasco,Gregory J. Hannon,Roberta Maestro +8 more
TL;DR: It is reported that the combined expression of adenovirus E1A, Ha-RasV12, and MDM2 is sufficient to convert a normal human cell into a cancer cell and provides evidence that activation of telomere maintenance strategies is not an obligate characteristic of tumorigenic human cells.
