Dynamic polarization mode dispersion compensation in 40 Gb/s RZ optical transmission system

TL;DR: In this article, an experiment of dynamic adaptive PMD compensation in 4×10 Gb/s optical time-division multiplexed (OTDM) transmission system is reported, where the PMD compensator consists of polarization controller and variable delay line with four degrees of freedom.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristics of Gaussian pulses transmitting in the G.652 fiber with FBG dispersion compensation

TL;DR: In this article, the compression characteristics of a Gaussian pulse with varied chirp and pulse width were obtained by theoretical analysis and experiments, and the compensation effects are diverse even with the same chirped optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) dispersion compensator, and optimal dispersion compensation length is related to the position of the FBG.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Improvement on delay characteristics of cascaded chirped FBGs

TL;DR: In this paper, Gaussian and super Gaussian apodization are used to suppress the out-of-band reflection of the cascaded Bragg gratings to limit the interaction between them.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Study on a new type of tunable filter based on multi-cladding LPG

TL;DR: In this paper, a new type of tunable filter is presented and a polymer with high electro-optic coefficient is fabricated as the outer layer of the long period fiber grating (LPG), since the resonant wavelength of LPG is extremely sensitive to the refractive index change outside the cladding.
Journal ArticleDOI

4×10 Gb/s 800 km transmission system on G.652 fiber with dispersion compensation by chirped FBG

TL;DR: In this paper, the dispersion compensation of 4×10Gb/s 800km G652 fiber by chirped optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) was originally implemented, and the characteristics of FBG are optimized, so that the ripple coefficient of reflectivity and time delay are less than 09dB and 30ps, respectively.
