Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of shunt volumes in congenital heart diseases using a breath-hold MR phase contrast technique--comparison with oximetry.
Steffen E. Petersen,Thomas Voigtländer,Karl-Friedrich Kreitner,P. Kalden,T. Wittlinger,Jürgen Scharhag,Georg Horstick,Dietmar Becker,Gerhard Hommel,Manfred Thelen,Jürgen Meyer +10 more
TL;DR: Cardiac shunt volumes can be measured reliably using a shorter acquisition time with breath-hold MR phase contrast technique, and the non-invasive shunt measurement in the 17 patients showed a mean Qp:Qs ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnosis and risk stratification in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy using machine learning wall thickness measurement: a comparison with human test-retest performance
João B Augusto,João B Augusto,Rhodri H Davies,Rhodri H Davies,Anish N Bhuva,Anish N Bhuva,Kristopher D Knott,Kristopher D Knott,Andreas Seraphim,Andreas Seraphim,Mashael Alfarih,Mashael Alfarih,Clement Lau,Clement Lau,Rebecca K. Schelbert,Charlotte Manisty,Charlotte Manisty,James C. Moon,James C. Moon +38 more
TL;DR: In this preliminary study, machine learning MWT measurement in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is superior to human experts with potential implications for diagnosis, risk stratification, and clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative CMR population imaging on 20,000 subjects of the UK Biobank imaging study: LV/RV quantification pipeline and its evaluation.
Rahman Attar,Marco Pereanez,Ali Gooya,Xènia Albà,Le Zhang,Milton Hoz de Vila,Aaron M. Lee,Nay Aung,Elena Lukaschuk,Mihir M. Sanghvi,Kenneth Fung,José Miguel Paiva,Stefan K. Piechnik,Stefan Neubauer,Steffen E. Petersen,Alejandro F. Frangi +15 more
TL;DR: This paper presents and evaluates a cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) image analysis pipeline that properly scales up and can provide a fully automatic analysis of the UKB CMR study, and provides 3D anatomical bi-ventricular models of the heart.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fractal Analysis of Myocardial Trabeculations in 2547 Study Participants: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis.
Gabriella Captur,Filip Zemrak,Filip Zemrak,Vivek Muthurangu,Steffen E. Petersen,Steffen E. Petersen,Chunming Li,Paul Bassett,Nadine Kawel-Boehm,William J. McKenna,Perry M. Elliott,Joao A.C. Lima,David A. Bluemke,James C. Moon +13 more
TL;DR: Fractal analysis of cardiac MR imaging data measures endocardial complexity, which helps to differentiate normal from abnormal trabecular patterns in healthy versus diseased hearts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Late Gadolinium Enhancement CMR Predicts Adverse Cardiovascular Outcomes and Mortality in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Filip Zemrak,Steffen E. Petersen +1 more
TL;DR: Meta-analysis of available prospective studies showed that the presence of LGE increases the hazards of death by more than 4 times and of MACE by almost 4 times, and large randomized controlled trials are needed to establish the actual value of L GE and other derived parameters in the wider population.
