Journal ArticleDOI
Cell types in the mouse cortex and hippocampus revealed by single-cell RNA-seq
Amit Zeisel,Ana B. Muñoz-Manchado,Simone Codeluppi,Peter Lönnerberg,Gioele La Manno,Anna Juréus,Sueli Marques,Hermany Munguba,Liqun He,Christer Betsholtz,Christer Betsholtz,Charlotte Rolny,Gonçalo Castelo-Branco,Jens Hjerling-Leffler,Sten Linnarsson +14 more
TL;DR: Large-scale single-cell RNA sequencing is used to classify cells in the mouse somatosensory cortex and hippocampal CA1 region and found 47 molecularly distinct subclasses, comprising all known major cell types in the cortex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oligodendrocyte heterogeneity in the mouse juvenile and adult central nervous system.
Sueli Marques,Amit Zeisel,Simone Codeluppi,David van Bruggen,Ana Mendanha Falcão,Lin Xiao,Lin Xiao,Huiliang Li,Martin Häring,Hannah Hochgerner,Roman A. Romanov,Roman A. Romanov,Daniel Gyllborg,Ana B. Muñoz-Manchado,Gioele La Manno,Peter Lönnerberg,Elisa M. Floriddia,Fatemah Rezayee,Patrik Ernfors,Ernest Arenas,Jens Hjerling-Leffler,Tibor Harkany,Tibor Harkany,William D. Richardson,Sten Linnarsson,Gonçalo Castelo-Branco +25 more
TL;DR: The dynamics of oligodendrocyte differentiation and maturation are revealed, uncoupling them at a transcriptional level and highlighting oligodendedrocytes heterogeneity in the central nervous system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Disease-specific oligodendrocyte lineage cells arise in multiple sclerosis
Ana Mendanha Falcão,David van Bruggen,Sueli Marques,Mandy Meijer,Sarah Jäkel,Eneritz Agirre,Samudyata,Elisa M. Floriddia,Darya P. Vanichkina,Darya P. Vanichkina,Charles ffrench-Constant,Anna Williams,André Ortlieb Guerreiro-Cacais,Gonçalo Castelo-Branco +13 more
TL;DR: This article performed single-cell transcriptomic analysis of OL lineage cells from the spinal cord of mice induced with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), which mimics several aspects of MS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptional Convergence of Oligodendrocyte Lineage Progenitors during Development.
Sueli Marques,David van Bruggen,Darya P. Vanichkina,Darya P. Vanichkina,Elisa M. Floriddia,Hermany Munguba,Leif Väremo,Stefania Giacomello,Ana Mendanha Falcão,Mandy Meijer,Åsa K. Björklund,Jens Hjerling-Leffler,Ryan J. Taft,Ryan J. Taft,Gonçalo Castelo-Branco +14 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that embryonic Pdgfra+ cells in the CNS give rise to distinct post-natal cell lineages, including OPCs with convergent transcriptional profiles in different CNS regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epigenetics in neurodegeneration: A new layer of complexity
TL;DR: Since aging is the most important risk factor for idiopathic AD and PD, it is expected that epigenetic alterations on DNA and/or chromatin structure may also accumulate in neurodegeneration, accounting at least in part to the etiology of these disorders.
