MicroRNA Regulation of Human Genes Essential for Influenza A (H7N9) Replication.
Stefan Wolf,Stefan Wolf,Weilin Wu,Cheryl A. Jones,Olivia Perwitasari,Suresh Mahalingam,Ralph A. Tripp +6 more
TL;DR: A high-throughput screening assay was performed using microRNA (miRNA) inhibitors to identify new host miRNA targets that reduce influenza H7N9 replication in human respiratory (A549) cells, leading to a top hit, hsa-miR-664a-3p, that had potent antiviral effects in reducing H7n9 replication by two logs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methotrexate Treatment Causes Early Onset of Disease in a Mouse Model of Ross River Virus-Induced Inflammatory Disease through Increased Monocyte Production
TL;DR: It is suggested that MTX treatment of acute RRVD in mice provides no therapeutic benefit and underline the importance of inflammatory monocytes in alphaviral induced arthritides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of envelope N-linked glycosylation in Ross River virus virulence and transmission
Michelle Nelson,Lara J. Herrero,Jason A. L. Jeffery,Marion Hoehn,Marion Hoehn,Penny A. Rudd,Aroon Supramaniam,Brian H. Kay,Peter A. Ryan,Peter A. Ryan,Suresh Mahalingam,Suresh Mahalingam +11 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that glycosylation of the E1 and E2 glycoproteins of RRV provides important determinants of viral virulence and immunopathology in the mammalian host and replication in the mosquito vector.
Journal ArticleDOI
Small tumor necrosis factor receptor biologics inhibit the tumor necrosis factor-p38 signalling axis and inflammation.
Violet Mukaro,Alex Quach,Alex Quach,Michelle E. Gahan,Bernadette Boog,Bernadette Boog,Zhi H. Huang,Zhi H. Huang,Zhi H. Huang,Xiuhui Gao,Xiuhui Gao,Carol Haddad,Carol Haddad,Suresh Mahalingam,Charles S. T. Hii,Charles S. T. Hii,Antonio Ferrante +16 more
TL;DR: An anti-TNF biologic peptide that functionally and selectively targets the TNF-p38 pathway in multiple models of inflammation is shown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular and cellular mechanisms in the viral exacerbation of asthma.
Sharyn Tauro,Yung-Chang Su,Sandra Thomas,Jürgen Schwarze,Klaus I. Matthaei,Dijana Townsend,Dijana Townsend,Ljubov Simson,Ralph A. Tripp,Suresh Mahalingam +9 more
TL;DR: Evidence associated with factors that may contribute to the development or exacerbation of asthma including age, host factors, genetic polymorphisms, altered immune responses, and aspects of viral antigen expression are summarized.
