Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating cell membrane microparticles transfer heme to endothelial cells and trigger vasoocclusions in sickle cell disease
Stéphane M. Camus,João Alfredo Moraes,Philippe Bonnin,Paul Abbyad,Sylvain Le Jeune,François Lionnet,Laurent Loufrani,Linda Grimaud,Jean-Christophe Lambry,Dominique Charue,Laurent Kiger,Jean-Marie Renard,Claire Larroque,Hervé Le Clésiau,Alain Tedgui,Patrick Bruneval,Christina Barja-Fidalgo,Antigoni Alexandrou,Pierre-Louis Tharaux,Chantal M. Boulanger,Olivier Blanc-Brude +20 more
TL;DR: In transgenic SAD mice, infusion of heme-laden MPs triggered rapid vasoocclusions in kidneys and compromised microvascular dilation ex vivo, and may provide new targets for the therapeutic preservation of vascular function in SCD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravascular hemolysis activates complement via cell-free heme and heme-loaded microvesicles
Nicolas S. Merle,Nicolas S. Merle,Nicolas S. Merle,Anne Grunenwald,Anne Grunenwald,Anne Grunenwald,Helena Rajaratnam,Viviane Gnemmi,Marie Frimat,Marie-Lucile Figueres,Marie-Lucile Figueres,Marie-Lucile Figueres,Samantha Knockaert,Samantha Knockaert,Samantha Knockaert,Sanah Bouzekri,Sanah Bouzekri,Dominique Charue,Dominique Charue,Remi Noe,Remi Noe,Tania Robe-Rybkine,Tania Robe-Rybkine,Tania Robe-Rybkine,Marie Le-Hoang,Marie Le-Hoang,Nathan Brinkman,Thomas Gentinetta,Monika Edler,Sara Petrillo,Emanuela Tolosano,Sylvia Miescher,Sylvain Le Jeune,Pascal Houillier,Pascal Houillier,Pascal Houillier,Sophie Chauvet,Marion Rabant,Jordan D. TL;DR: It is demonstrated that intravascular hemolysis triggers complement activation in vivo, encouraging further studies on its role in SCD nephropathy and heme inhibition using hemopexin may provide a novel therapeutic opportunity to limit complementactivation in hemolytic diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exposure to inorganic particles in paediatric sarcoidosis: the PEDIASARC study.
Nadia Nathan,Nadia Nathan,Marie-Emeline Montagne,Odile Macchi,Paul-André Rosental,Simon Chauveau,Simon Chauveau,Florence Jeny,Florence Jeny,Lucile Sesé,Lucile Sesé,Rola Abou Taam,Rola Abou Taam,Manon Brocvielle,Jacques Brouard,Mickaël Catinon,Catherine Chapelon-Abric,Fleur Cohen-Aubart,Christophe Delacourt,Christophe Delacourt,Céline Delestrain,Céline Delestrain,Antoine Deschildre,A. Mattioni,Jean-Marc Naccache,Marie-Hélène Odièvre,Michel Vincent,Annick Clement,Annick Clement,Dominique Valeyre,Catherine Cavalin +43 more
TL;DR: Inorganic antigens may contribute to paediatric sarcoidosis as discussed by the authors, especially for construction, exposures to metal dust, talc, abrasive reagents and scouring products.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxyurea Exposure throughout Pregnancy in Patients with Sickle-Cell Disease : 4 Case Reports from European Non-Interventional, Multicentric, Prospective Escort-HU Study
TL;DR: Four cases in which HU was taken during all pregnancy collected in the ESCORT-HU study (European Sickle Cell Disease COhoRT - HydroxyUrea), a multicentric, prospective, non-interventional European study which collected long-term safety information on HU when used in current practice are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxycarbamide (HU), Sickle Cell Disease and Pregnancy, a Multicentric Retrospective Study
Laure Joseph,Anoosha Habibi,Giovanna Cannas,Stephanie Ngo,Sylvain Le Jeune,Ersi Voskaridou,Elena Foïs,Caroline Makowski,Nathalie Lemonne,Narcisse Elenga,Yves Ville,Alexandra Benachi,R Girot,Marina Cavazzana,Jean-Antoine Ribeil +14 more
TL;DR: The ESCORT-HU (European Sickle Cell Disease Cohort - Hydroxyurea) as discussed by the authors is a multicenter prospective non-interventional study implemented in Europe to collect more information about the safety profile and morbidity-mortality in SCD patients treated with HU.
