Globular Adiponectin Protected ob/ob Mice from Diabetes and ApoE-deficient Mice from Atherosclerosis
Toshimasa Yamauchi,Junji Kamon,Hironori Waki,Yasushi Imai,Nobuhiro Shimozawa,K. Hioki,S. Uchida,Yusuke Ito,Keisuke Takakuwa,Junji Matsui,Makoto Takata,Kazuhiro Eto,Yasuo Terauchi,Kajuro Komeda,Masaki Tsunoda,Koji Murakami,Yasuyuki Ohnishi,Takeshi Naitoh,Ken Ichi Yamamura,Yoshito Ueyama,Philippe Froguel,Satoshi Kimura,A. Ryozo Nagai,Takashi Kadowaki +23 more
TL;DR: It is shown that replenishment of globular adiponectin may provide a novel treatment modality for both type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis, and this is the first demonstration that globular leptin can protect against Atherosclerosis in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a novel gene family encoding human liver-specific organic anion transporter LST-1.
Takaaki Abe,Masayuki Kakyo,Taro Tokui,Rie Nakagomi,Toshiyuki Nishio,Daisuke Nakai,Hideki Nomura,Michiaki Unno,Masanori Suzuki,Takeshi Naitoh,Seiki Matsuno,Hiromu Yawo +11 more
TL;DR: This is the first report of the human molecule that transports thyroid hormones, and probably the most important transporter in human liver for clearance of bile acids and organic anions because hepatic levels of another organic anion transporter, OATP, is very low.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Hospital Volume on Surgical Outcomes After Pancreaticoduodenectomy: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Tatsuo Hata,Fuyuhiko Motoi,Masaharu Ishida,Takeshi Naitoh,Yu Katayose,Shinichi Egawa,Michiaki Unno +6 more
TL;DR: This meta-analysis included studies from different countries with disparate health care systems and provided strong evidence for an inverse association between higher hospital volume and lower mortality after PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
5-FU Metabolism in Cancer and Orally-Administrable 5-FU Drugs
Koh Miura,Makoto Kinouchi,Kazuyuki Ishida,Wataru Fujibuchi,Takeshi Naitoh,Hitoshi Ogawa,Toshinori Ando,Nobuki Yazaki,Kazuhiro Watanabe,Sho Haneda,Chikashi Shibata,Iwao Sasaki +11 more
TL;DR: This review will focus on the current knowledge of 5-FU anabolism and catabolism, and the available information about the various orally-administrable5-FU drugs, including UFT, S-1 and capecitabine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased insulin sensitivity despite lipodystrophy in Crebbp heterozygous mice
Toshimasa Yamauchi,Yuichi Oike,Junji Kamon,Hironori Waki,Kajuro Komeda,Atsuko Tsuchida,Yukari Date,Meng Xian Li,Hiroshi Miki,Yasuo Akanuma,Ryozo Nagai,Satoshi Kimura,Takeyori Saheki,Masamitsu Nakazato,Takeshi Naitoh,Ken Ichi Yamamura,Takashi Kadowaki +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that CBP may function as a 'master-switch' between energy storage and expenditure in mice that are completely protected from body weight gain induced by a high-fat diet.
