Book ChapterDOI

A novel MRI texture analysis of demyelination and inflammation in relapsing-remitting experimental allergic encephalomyelitis

TL;DR: Both high and low frequency signals, representing inflammation and demyelination, were significantly increased in pathological regions compared to normal control tissue, suggesting that this new local spatial-frequency measure of image texture may provide a sensitive and precise indication of disease activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microglia in multiple sclerosis: Protectors turn destroyers

V. Wee Yong
- 01 Jul 2022 -
TL;DR: The protector-gone-rogue microglia in MS is discussed in this article , where the authors consider mechanisms of microgliosis neurotoxicity and discuss factors, including aging, osteopontin, and iron metabolism, that cause micro-glia to lose their protective states and become injurious.
Journal ArticleDOI

The promise of futility trials in neurological diseases.

TL;DR: Futility models are discussed, highlighting their advantages as well as challenges to their application in several neurological diseases, including Parkinson disease, stroke and multiple sclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gestational bisphenol-A exposure lowers the threshold for autoimmunity in a model of multiple sclerosis.

TL;DR: G gestational bisphenol-A exposure increases susceptibility to autoimmunity in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis; the disease manifested in adult male, but not female, mice when a suboptimal insult was applied.
