The SARS, MERS and novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemics, the newest and biggest global health threats: what lessons have we learned?
Noah C. Peeri,Nistha Shrestha,Siddikur Rahman,Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki,Zhengqi Tan,Saana Bibi,Mahdi Baghbanzadeh,Nasrin Aghamohammadi,Wenyi Zhang,Ubydul Haque +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that China was ill-prepared to deal with the challenges the COVID-19 epidemic has posed and the uses and implications of internet of things (IoT) technologies for mapping the spread of infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The genome sequences of 213 Lactobacilli strains and associated genera are reported, and their encoded genetic catalogue for modifying carbohydrates and proteins are described, and a robust phylogenomic framework of existing species and for classifying new species is presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, a spatio-temporal distribution of deadly landslides is presented for 27 European countries over the last 20 years (1995-2014) and a total of 1370 deaths and 784 injuries were reported resulting from 476 landslides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimating spatiotemporal distribution of PM1 concentrations in China with satellite remote sensing, meteorology, and land use information
Gongbo Chen,Luke D. Knibbs,Wenyi Zhang,Shanshan Li,Wei Cao,Jianping Guo,Hongyan Ren,Boguang Wang,Hao Wang,Gail M. Williams,Nicholas A. S. Hamm,Yuming Guo +11 more
TL;DR: GAM with satellite-retrieved AOD, meteorology, and land use information has high predictive ability to estimate ground-level PM1 and can be applied to evaluate the health effects of PM1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of ambient PM1 air pollution on daily emergency hospital visits in China: an epidemiological study
Gongbo Chen,Shanshan Li,Yongming Zhang,Wenyi Zhang,Daowei Li,Xuemei Wei,Yong He,Michelle L. Bell,Gail M. Williams,Guy B. Marks,Guy B. Marks,Bin Jalaludin,Michael J. Abramson,Yuming Guo +13 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that most of the health effects of PM2·5 come from PM1, and that 4·47% and 5·05% of daily emergency hospital visits in China could be attributed to ambient PM1 and PM3·5 pollution, respectively.
