Journal ArticleDOI
A dominant population of optically invisible massive galaxies in the early Universe
Tao Wang,Tao Wang,Corentin Schreiber,Corentin Schreiber,Corentin Schreiber,D. Elbaz,Yuki Yoshimura,Kotaro Kohno,X. W. Shu,Yorito Yamaguchi,Maurilio Pannella,M. Franco,Jeffrey T.-J. Huang,C.-F. Lim,C.-F. Lim,Wei-Hao Wang +15 more
TL;DR: Submillimetre-wavelength observations reveal a sample of galaxies that have no detectable emission in the ultraviolet-to-near-infrared region, and are probably the progenitors of the largest present-day galaxies in clusters.
Journal ArticleDOI
T-PHOT: A new code for PSF-matched, prior-based, multiwavelength extragalactic deconfusion photometry
E. Merlin,Adriano Fontana,Henry C. Ferguson,James Dunlop,David Elbaz,Nathan Bourne,Vicki Bruce,Fernando Buitrago,Fernando Buitrago,Marco Castellano,Corentin Schreiber,Andrea Grazian,Ross J. McLure,Koryo Okumura,X. W. Shu,Tao Wang,Ricardo Amorín,K. Boutsia,Nico Cappelluti,Andrea Comastri,S. Derriere,S. M. Faber,Paola Santini +22 more
TL;DR: T-phot as discussed by the authors is a software package developed within the astrodeep project to extract accurate photometry from low-resolution images, where the blending of sources can be a serious problem for the accurate and unbiased measurement of fluxes and colours.
Journal ArticleDOI
GOODS-ALMA: 1.1 mm galaxy survey - I. Source catalogue and optically dark galaxies
M. Franco,D. Elbaz,M. Bethermin,Benjamin Magnelli,C. Schreiber,L. Ciesla,Mark Dickinson,Neil M. Nagar,John D. Silverman,E. Daddi,D. M. Alexander,Tao Wang,Maurilio Pannella,E. Le Floc'h,A. Pope,M. Giavalisco,Anaëlle Maury,F. Bournaud,R.-R. Chary,R. Demarco,H. C. Ferguson,S. L. Finkelstein,Hanae Inami,Daisuke Iono,S. Juneau,G. Lagache,Roger Leiton,L. Lin,Georgios E. Magdis,Hugo Messias,Kentaro Motohara,James Mullaney,K. Okumura,C. Papovich,Janine Pforr,W. Rujopakarn,Mark Sargent,X. W. Shu,L. Zhou +38 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a 69 arcmin$^2$ ALMA survey at 1.1mm, Goodwill-ALMA, matching the deepest HST-WFC3 H-band part of the GOODS-South field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigating the Nuclear Obscuration in Two Types of Seyfert 2 Galaxies
TL;DR: In this article, a large sample of Seyfert 2 galaxies (Sy2s) with both optical spectropolarimetric and X-ray data available was built, in which 29 of the Sy2s have a detection of polarized broad emission lines (PBLs) and 25 do not.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of cosmic star formation in the SCUBA-2 Cosmology Legacy Survey
Nathan Bourne,James Dunlop,Emiliano Merlin,S. Parsa,Corentin Schreiber,Marco Castellano,C. J. Conselice,Kristen Coppin,Duncan Farrah,Adriano Fontana,James E. Geach,Mark Halpern,Kirsten Kraiberg Knudsen,Michał J. Michałowski,Alice Mortlock,P. Santini,Douglas Scott,X. W. Shu,Chris Simpson,Julian M Simpson,Daniel J. Smith,P. van der Werf +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the cosmic star formation history undergoes a transition at z similar to 3-4, as predominantly unobscured growth in the early Universe is overtaken by obscured star formation, driven by the build-up of the most massive galaxies during the peak of cosmic assembly.
