Journal ArticleDOI
Five novel loci associated with antipsychotic treatment response in patients with schizophrenia: a genome-wide association study.
Hao Yu,Hao Yu,Hao Yan,Lifang Wang,Jun Li,Liwen Tan,Wei Deng,Qi Chen,Guigang Yang,Fuquan Zhang,Tianlan Lu,Jianli Yang,Keqing Li,Luxian Lv,Qingrong Tan,Hongyan Zhang,Xiao Xiao,Ming Li,Ming Li,Xin Ma,Fude Yang,Lingjiang Li,Chuanyue Wang,Tao Li,Dai Zhang,Dai Zhang,Weihua Yue +26 more
TL;DR: The identification of genes related to synaptic function, neurotransmitter receptors, and schizophrenia risk that are associated with response to antipsychotics improve understanding of the mechanisms underlying treatment responses, and the identified biomarkers could eventually guide choice of antipsychotic in patients with schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allelic Differences Between Han Chinese and Europeans for Functional Variants in ZNF804A and Their Association With Schizophrenia
TL;DR: The results suggest that ZNF804A is a common risk gene for schizophrenia in world populations and that the newly identified functional SNP (rs359895) is likely a risk SNP for schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
The protocadherin 17 gene affects cognition, personality, amygdala structure and function, synapse development and risk of major mood disorders
Hong Chang,Naosuke Hoshina,Naosuke Hoshina,Chen Zhang,Yina Ma,Hengyi Cao,Y. Wang,Dong-Dong Wu,Sarah E. Bergen,Sarah E. Bergen,Mikael Landén,Mikael Landén,Christina M. Hultman,Martin Preisig,Zoltán Kutalik,Zoltán Kutalik,Enrique Castelao,Maria Grigoroiu-Serbanescu,Andreas J. Forstner,Jana Strohmaier,Julian Hecker,Thomas G. Schulze,Bertram Müller-Myhsok,Bertram Müller-Myhsok,Andreas Reif,Philip B. Mitchell,Philip B. Mitchell,Nicholas G. Martin,Peter R. Schofield,Peter R. Schofield,Sven Cichon,M. M. Nöthen,Henrik Walter,Susanne Erk,A. Heinz,Najaf Amin,C.M. van Duijn,Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg,Heike Tost,Xiao Xiao,Tadashi Yamamoto,M. Rietschel,Ming Li +42 more
TL;DR: Brain expressed protocadherin 17 (PCDH17) is revealed as a susceptibility gene for major mood disorders involved in synaptic function and related intermediate phenotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI
BDNF Val66Met polymorphism and bipolar disorder in European populations: A risk association in case-control, family-based and GWAS studies.
Ming Li,Hong Chang,Xiao Xiao +2 more
TL;DR: It appears that the risk for MDD conferred by BDNF is waning, as the Val66Met variant was not associated with MDD in either European or Asian samples, and the results showed that the Val 66Met polymorphism was significantly associated with BPD in Europeans.
Journal ArticleDOI
The schizophrenia risk gene ZNF804A: clinical associations, biological mechanisms and neuronal functions.
Hong Chang,Xiao Xiao,Ming Li +2 more
TL;DR: This review for the first time systematically presents the evidence for ZNF804A, describing its discovery and likely roles in brain development and schizophrenia pathogenesis, and summarizes this information with a systemic and broad assessment of recent findings.
