Journal ArticleDOI
DNA repair genetic polymorphisms and risk of colorectal cancer in the Czech Republic.
Barbara Pardini,Alessio Naccarati,Jan Novotny,Zdenek Smerhovsky,Ludmila Vodickova,Veronika Polakova,Monika Hanova,Jana Slyskova,Elena Tulupova,Rajesh Kumar,M. Bortlik,Roberto Barale,Kari Hemminki,Pavel Vodicka +13 more
TL;DR: Considering the subtle effect of the DNA repair polymorphisms on the risk of colorectal cancer, exploration of gene-gene and gene-environmental interactions with a large sample size with sufficient statistical power are recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bile acid malabsorption in inflammatory bowel disease: assessment by serum markers.
Martin Lenicek,Dana Duricova,Viktor Komarek,Bronislava Gabrysova,Milan Lukas,Zdenek Smerhovsky,Libor Vítek,Libor Vítek +7 more
TL;DR: The most severe BAM occurs in CD patients after resection of the distal ileum, but BAM can occur in surgically untreated CD patients, regardless of disease localization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype and haplotype analysis of cell cycle genes in sporadic colorectal cancer in the Czech Republic
Veronika Polakova,Veronika Polakova,Barbara Pardini,Alessio Naccarati,Stefano Landi,Jana Slyskova,Jan Novotny,Ludmila Vodickova,Justo Lorenzo Bermejo,Monika Hanova,Zdenek Smerhovsky,Elena Tulupova,Rajesh Kumar,Kari Hemminki,Pavel Vodicka +14 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that prevalent haplotypes within the TP53 gene may modulate CRC risks in the population and be observed with haplotypes of the CDKN1A and CDKN2A polymorphisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between exposure-relevant polymorphisms in CYP1B1, EPHX1, NQO1, GSTM1, GSTP1 and GSTT1 and risk of colorectal cancer in a Czech population.
Ivona Hlavata,David Vrána,Zdenek Smerhovsky,Barbara Pardini,Alessio Naccarati,Pavel Vodicka,Jan Novotny,Beatrice Mohelnikova-Duchonova,Pavel Soucek +8 more
TL;DR: Genetic polymorphisms in glutathione S-transferase Pi-1, NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1, epoxide hydrolase 1 and deduced epoxid hydrol enzyme 1 activity did not modify the risk of colorectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosomal damage among medical staff occupationally exposed to volatile anesthetics, antineoplastic drugs, and formaldehyde
Ludovit Musak,Zdenek Smerhovsky,Erika Halasova,Oto Osina,Lucia Letkova,Ludmila Vodickova,Ludmila Vodickova,Veronika Polakova,Veronika Polakova,J. Buchancova,Kari Hemminki,Pavel Vodicka,Pavel Vodicka +12 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that the presence of genotoxic compounds in operating rooms, oncological units, and pathological departments results in a significant increase of chromosomal damage (impair of chromosome integrity) among medical workers employed in these facilities.
