New-Onset Diabetes in Covid-19.
Francesco Rubino,Stephanie A. Amiel,Paul Zimmet,K. George M.M. Alberti,Stefan R. Bornstein,Robert H. Eckel,Geltrude Mingrone,Bernhard O. Boehm,Mark E. Cooper,Zhonglin Chai,Stefano Del Prato,Linong Ji,David Hopkins,William H. Herman,Kamlesh Khunti,Jean Claude Mbanya,Eric Renard +16 more
TL;DR: A large number of patients with or at risk of diabetes and metabolic complications of preexisting diabetes, including diabetic ketoacidosis and h...
Journal ArticleDOI
SET-related cell division autoantigen-1 (CDA1) arrests cell growth.
TL;DR: It is proposed that CDA1 is a negative regulator of cell growth and that its activity is regulated by its expression level and phosphorylation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiproliferative autoantigen CDA1 transcriptionally up-regulates p21Waf1/Cip1 by activating p53 and MEK/ERK1/2 MAPK pathways
Yugang Tu,Weiping Wu,Tieqiao Wu,Zemin Cao,Richard Wilkins,Ban-Hock Toh,Mark E. Cooper,Zhonglin Chai +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that CDA1 induces p53- and MEK/ERK1/2 MAPK-dependent expression of p21 by acting through the p53 responsive element in the p21 promoter and that this contributes to its antiproliferative activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
17β-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type XI Localizes to Human Steroidogenic Cells
Zhonglin Chai,Phillip S. Brereton,Takashi Suzuki,Hironobu Sasano,Varuni R. Obeyesekere,Geneviève Escher,Richard Saffery,Peter J. Fuller,Carla Enriquez,Zygmunt Krozowski +9 more
TL;DR: Another isoform of 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, 17βHSDXI is identified and it is found that this enzyme converts 5α-androstane-3α, 17 β-diol to androsterone and is implicated in supporting gestation and modulating γ-aminobutyric acid receptor activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamin II regulates hormone secretion in neuroendocrine cells.
Zhiyong Yang,He Li,Zhonglin Chai,Meryl J. Fullerton,Ying Cao,Ban-Hock Toh,John W. Funder,Jun-Ping Liu +7 more
TL;DR: Dynamin II plays a key role in controlling constitutive and regulated hormone secretion from mouse pituitary corticotrope (AtT20) cells and regulates secretory vesicle release from mammalian neuroendocrine cells.
