TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the EU is failing to adopt an integrated approach to migration management in Libya despite its repeated assurances to the contrary, and examine EU-Libya cooperation still in its early stages and analyses the experiences of refugees and migrants in Libya and on their journeys to Europe.
Abstract: Libyas emergence as a key jumping-off point for entry into Europe by sea has created a sense of urgency within the EU which seeks to prevent arrivals from this new point of departure and has led to the initiation of EU-Libya cooperation on migration. This article argues that the EU is failing to adopt an integrated approach to migration management in Libya despite its repeated assurances to the contrary. It examines EU-Libya cooperation still in its early stages and analyses the experiences of refugees and migrants in Libya and on their journeys to Europe. Both elements strongly indicate that the current approach which focuses on border control and surveillance is likely to meet with limited success in achieving the EUs aims of stemming the flow of irregular migrants arriving from Libya in Italy and Malta protecting the human rights of those in transit and ensuring humanitarian outcomes for them. TL;DR: In this paper, three neural networks were developed to estimate the productivity, within a developing market, for formwork assembly, steel fixing, and concrete pouring activities in concrete-related activities in developing countries.
Abstract: To overcome the variability and the impact of subjective factors on the cost of concrete-related activities in developing countries, neural networks can offer a guiding tool. In this study, three neural networks were developed to estimate the productivity, within a developing market, for formwork assembly, steel fixing, and concrete pouring activities. Eighteen experts working in six projects were carefully selected to gather the data for the neural networks. Ninety-two data surveys were obtained and processed for use by the neural networks. Commercial software was used to perform the neural network calculations. The processed data were used to develop, train, and test the neural networks. The results of the developed framework of neural networks indicate adequate convergence and relatively strong generalization capabilities. When used to perform a sensitivity analysis on the input factors influencing the productivity of concreting activities, the framework has demonstrated a good potential in identifying trends of such factors.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-linked ZnO nanorod-based metal-semiconductor-metal UV detector (Ag-ZnONRs-Ag MSM PD) was fabricated.
Abstract: High-quality cross-linked ZnO nanorods/nanotetrapods have been successfully synthesized via thermal evaporation of Zn metal grains on Si (1 0 0) substrates. The growth mechanism for the formation of such cross-linked ZnO nanorods is discussed. The morphological, structural and optical properties of the nanorods have been investigated using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence techniques. Cross-linked ZnO nanorods-based metal-semiconductor-metal UV detectors (Ag-ZnONRs-Ag MSM PD) were fabricated. The device showed a sensitivity of 595. The responsivity ( R ) of the device is 0.63 A W −1 , which is 10 times higher than that reported for ZnO-based PDs. Under low power illumination (365 nm, 1.5 mW/cm 2 ), the device showed a relatively fast response and baseline recovery for UV detection. The prototype device shows a simple method for cross-linked nanorods synthesis and demonstrates the possibility of constructing nanoscale photodetectors for nano-optics applications.

TL;DR: This article used the Experience Sampling Method to examine attentional involvement, the degree to which one's attention is devoted to moment-to-moment activity, as a potential mediator of two previously identified relationships within the field of intrinsic motivation.
Abstract: The current study used the Experience Sampling Method to examine attentional involvement—the degree to which one’s attention is devoted to moment-to-moment activity—as a potential mediator of two previously identified relationships within the field of intrinsic motivation: (1) the positive relationship between a balance of challenges and skills and enjoyment, and (2) the positive relationship between competence valuation and enjoyment. Multilevel, within-person analyses indicated attentional involvement fully mediated both relationships. Implications of the findings for intrinsic motivation processes are discussed.
