TL;DR: The proposed modified firefly algorithm gives more optimal solution than original FA and gives more efficient solution with reduced time complexity in comparison to original FA.
Abstract: The proposed modified firefly algorithm gives more optimal solution than original FA.The time complexity of the modified FA is also less as compared to FA.The dimensional FA helps FA not to stuck in the local optima and gives global optima. The opposition FA improves initialization of fireflies so they converge faster. This paper presents the modified Firefly Algorithm (FA) originally proposed by Yang.Firefly Algorithm is based on the idealized behavior of the flashing characteristics of the fireflies. Though firefly is powerful in local search, it does not search well globally due to being trapped in local optimum. Due to this reason, the convergence is generally slow. The FA also doesn't give efficient solution in high dimensional problems. The proposed approach gives more efficient solution with reduced time complexity in comparison to original FA. Two modifications made are: (1) Opposition-based methodology is deployed where initialization of candidate solutions is done using opposition based learning to improve convergence rate of original FA, which includes initializing the opposite number of positions of each firefly. This also ensures efficient searching of the whole search space, (2) The dimensional-based approach is employed in which the position of each firefly is updated along different dimensions. This results in more optimal solution. This algorithm works for High Dimensionality problems, especially in terms of accuracy in finding the best optimal solution and in terms of fast convergence speed as well. Several complex multidimensional standard functions are employed for experimental verification. Experimental results include comparison with other Evolutionary algorithms which show that the Opposition and Dimensional based FA (ODFA) gives more accurate optimal solution with high convergence speed than the original FA and those achieved by existing methods.

TL;DR: In the proposed converter, all the diodes of the quadrupler cell are turned off with zero-current switching (ZCS), which considerably reduces the high-frequency turn-off losses and reverse recovery losses of the dioes.
Abstract: A nonisolated soft-switched-integrated boost converter having high voltage gain is proposed for the module-integrated PV systems, fuel cells, and other low voltage energy sources. Here, a bidirectional boost converter is integrated with a resonant voltage quadrupler cell to obtain higher voltage gain. The auxiliary switch of the converter, which is connected to the output port acts as an active clamp circuit. Hence, zero voltage switching turn-on of the MOSFET switches are achieved. Coupled inductor's leakage energy is recycled to the output port through this auxiliary switch. In the proposed converter, all the diodes of the quadrupler cell are turned off with zero-current switching (ZCS). This considerably reduces the high-frequency turn-off losses and reverse recovery losses of the diodes. ZCS turn-off of the diodes also remove the diode voltage ringing caused due to the interaction of the parasitic capacitance of the diodes and the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor. Hence, to protect the diodes from the voltage spikes, snubbers are not required. The voltage stress on all the MOSFETs and diodes are lower. This helps to choose switches of low voltage rating (low $R_{\text{DS}}(\text{ON})$ ) and, thus improve the efficiency. Design and mathematical analysis of the proposed converter are made. A 250-W prototype of the converter is built to verify the performance.

TL;DR: In this article, a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic universe with perfect fluid and dark energy components is considered and the two sources are assumed to interact minimally together with a special law of variation for the average Hubble's parameter in order to solve the Einstein's field equations.
Abstract: The paper deals with a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic universe filled with perfect fluid and dark energy components. The two sources are assumed to interact minimally together with a special law of variation for the average Hubble's parameter in order to solve the Einstein's field equations. The law yields two explicit forms of the scale factor governing the Bianchi-V spacetime and constant values of deceleration parameter. The role of dark energy with variable equation of state parameter has been studied in detail in the evolution of Bianchi-V universe. It has been found that dark energy dominates the universe at the present epoch, which is consistent with the observations. The universe achieves flatness after the dominance of dark energy. The physical behavior of the universe has been discussed in detail.
