30 Oct 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a real-time monitoring method for real time monitoring fluid in a vessel with a probe having a pair of electrodes immersed in the fluid is presented. But the method requires the probe to be placed helically on a rod, sized and configured for insertion in an engine dipstick hole, and the probe has spiral electrode winding up regions different pitch to provide improved impedance response at low fractional Hertz and high (at least one Hertz) frequencies of excitation.
Abstract: A method for real time monitoring fluid in a vessel with a probe having a pair of electrodes immersed in the fluid. The disclosed probe has the electrodes arranged helically on a rod, sized and configured for insertion in an engine dipstick hole. Preferably, the probe has spiral electrode winding up regions different pitch to provide improved impedance response at low fractional Hertz and high (at least one Hertz) frequencies of excitation. In one version with alternating voltage the difference in current magnitude measured at the low and high frequencies is compared with stored known values for known fluid conditions and an electrical signal indicative of fluid condition is generated. Examples with engine drain oil and heavy duty transmission lubricant fluid are presented. The impedance properties measured can determine the percentage remaining useful life (RUL) of the fluid. In another version of the method the current phase shift angle is measured at the fractional Hertzian frequency; and, from known values of current phase shift angle of the fluid, at various conditions, the condition of the fluid determined. The differential current measured and the measured phase shift angle may be combined, for example, by the square of the sum of the squares procedure to provide an enhanced impedance change indicator.

01 Dec 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a home system includes a server having a first wireless communication port and a user interface, which is adapted to configure the devices to output the control action responsive to at least one input from the sensors, another input from one of the sensors or the user interface.
Abstract: A home system includes a server having a first wireless communication port and a user interface. A plurality of sensors sense information and include a second wireless communication port, which sends the sensed information to the first wireless communication port of the server. A plurality of control devices output a control action and include a third wireless communication port, which receives the control action from the first wireless communication port of the server. The user interface of the server is adapted to configure the devices to output the control action responsive to: (a) at least one input from the sensors, (b) another input from one of the sensors or the user interface, and (c) a logic function applied to the at least one input from the sensors and to the another input from one of the sensors or the user interface.

15 Jun 1999TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid nonisocyanate polyurethane network polymer is constructed by cross-linking a cyclocarbonate oligomer and an amine oligomer.
Abstract: This invention relates to a hybrid nonisocyanate polyurethane network polymer formed by cross-linking at least one cyclocarbonate oligomer and at least one amine oligomer The cyclocarbonate oligomer contains a plurality of terminal cyclocarbonate groups At least one cyclocarbonate oligomer further comprises from about 4 % to about 12 % by weight of terminal epoxy groups Because at least one cyclocarbonate oligomer contains both cyclocarbonate and epoxy reactive groups, the network formed therefrom is referred to as a hybrid nonisocyanate polyurethane network The cyclocarbonate oligomer or oligomers have an average functionality towards primary amines of from about 20 to about 544 The amine oligomer comprises at least one primary amine-terminated oligomer terminated with primary amine groups and has an average functionality towards cyclocarbonate groups of from about 30 to about 38 The amine oligomer is present in an amount from about 093 to about 099 of the amount of the amine oligomer that would be required to achieve a stoichiometric ratio between the primary amine groups of the amine oligomer and the cyclocarbonate groups of the cyclocarbonate oligomer The hybrid nonisocyanate polyurethane network polymer formed has a gel fraction of not less than about 096 by weight This invention also relates to methods of making hybrid nonisocyanate polyurethane networks and their use as a composite matrix material

21 Jun 1982TL;DR: In this paper, a pair of transistors are connected in anti-series across an AC load line, and each transistor has an anti-parallel diode there around conducting current in the alternate half cycles.
Abstract: An AC transistor switch is provided with simple, accurate and fast overcurrent protection circuitry. A pair of transistors are connected in anti-series across an AC load line, and each transistor has an anti-parallel diode therearound conducting current in the alternate half cycles. Comparator means senses current flow through the diodes and is responsive to given threshold overload current to turn off the transistors. Voltage sensing means is referenced to a common point between the series connected transistors and senses the voltage at each main terminal relative to the common point to thus sense the voltage drop from the common point across each diode to its respective main terminal for sensing current flow through the respective diode. The current representative voltage is sensed through respective dedicated third and fourth diodes connected to the main terminals and having a common anode connection to the voltage sensing means such that the latter senses the more negative of the main terminals regardless of the relative potential therebetween.
