TL;DR: In this paper, the bending behavior of a rectangular plate is analyzed with the help of a refined higher-order theory, based on a higher order displacement model and the three-dimensional Hooke's laws for plate material, giving rise to a more realistic quadratic variation of the transverse shearing strains and linear variation of transverse normal strain through the plate thickness.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of variation of the boundary condition parameter and suction/injection parameter on the velocity, microrotation and temperature fields and the heat transfer coefficient have been studied graphically.
Abstract: The effect of suction/injection in the laminar free convection flow of a thermomicropolar fluid past a nonuniformly heated vertical flat plate has been considered. The conditions under which similarity exists have been examined. The resulting system of non-linear ordinary differential equations has been solved numerically after transforming the infinite domain of boundary layer coordinate into a finite domain. The effects of variation of the boundary condition parameter and suction/injection parameter on the velocity, microrotation and temperature fields and the heat transfer coefficient have been studied graphically. The skin-friction parameter and the gradient of microrotation on the wall have been tabulated. It is found that there is significant increase in velocity, skin-friction and the heat transfer coefficient with the decreasing concentration of microelements.

TL;DR: In this article, the sign and magnitude of the exchange constants in Y3Fe5O12 have been explained on the basis of Anderson's theory of superexchange, and the low temperature magnetisation data in Dy3Fe 5O12 has been explained by assuming canting on the c sublattice.
Abstract: The exchange constants in the ferrimagnetic garnets R3 Fe5 O12 (R=Y3+, Gd3+ and Dy3+) have been obtained from the experimental data on saturation magnetisation and inverse susceptibility. The sign and magnitude of the exchange constants in Y3Fe5O12 have been explained on the basis of Anderson’s theory of superexchange. The low temperature magnetisation data in Dy3Fe5O12 have been explained by assuming canting on thec sublattice.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Schrodinger equation for many-electron systems is transformed into a continuity equation and an Euler-type equation of motion in configuration space, and the two fluid-dynamical equations are derived in the three-dimensional space.
Abstract: In presence of external electric and magnetic fields, the Schrodinger equation for many-electron systems is transformed into a continuity equation and an Euler-type equation of motion in configuration space. Then, using the natural-orbital Hamiltonian, as defined by Adams, the two fluid-dynamical equations are derived in the three-dimensional space. This generates a "classical" view of such quantum systems, corresponding to an MCSCF wave function: The many-electron Schrodinger fluid consists of individual fluid components, each corresponding to a natural orbital and having its own charge density and current density. The local observables, viz., the net charge density and net current density, are obtained by merely summing over the natural orbitals, with the occupation numbers as weight factors; but, the net velocity field cannot be so obtained. Further, although each fluid component moves irrotationally in the absence of a magnetic field, the net velocity field is not irrotaional. The irrotational character of each velocity component is destroyed by rotation of the nuclear framework of the system while electron spin introduces an additional term, the spin magnetization moment, into each component current density. The physical significance of the fluid-dynamical equations as well as their advantages and disadvantages are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of unidirectional surface roughness on the response of a squeeze film between two porous rectangular plates of finite dimensions were analyzed using Fourier expansions.
Abstract: The paper describes a theoretical analysis of the effects of unidirectional surface roughness on the response of a squeeze film between two porous rectangular plates of finite dimensions. The problem is solved analytically using Fourier expansions. It is shown that the nominal geometry as characterized by the aspect ratio of the plates has a profound effect on the system.

TL;DR: The textural study of the sand grains of Sivaganga Formation indicates that sedimentation commenced in a fluvial environment passing through the lacustrine-marsh conditions and ending with the influence of tidal estuary as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The textural study of the sand grains of Sivaganga Formation indicates that sedimentation commenced in a fluvial environment passing through the lacustrine-marsh conditions and ending with the influence of tidal estuary. The clayey sediments in the upper part have yielded an arenaceous foraminiferal assemblage having a low dominance and diversity value belonging to the Neocomian-Aptian (Early Cretaceous) age. The sedimentary basin was formed as a result of downwarping of the crystalline basement along the prominent Eastern Ghat trend during Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous. The basin established its fragmentary connections with the open sea situated at some distance towards the east and southeast.

TL;DR: In this article, the 1∶2 complex obeys Beer's law for manganese concentration of 0.04-1.4μg per ml, has molar absorptivity 4.176 x 104 and Sandell sensitivity 0.0013μg cm−2.
Abstract: Manganese forms a red chelate with 4-(2-thiazolylazo)-resorcinol at pH 8.8 (borate buffer), and absorbance is measured after 30 s, at 540 nm in the presence of 20%tert-butyl alcohol (by volume). The 1∶2 complex obeys Beer's law for manganese concentration of 0.04–1.4μg per ml, has molar absorptivity 4.176 x 104 and Sandell sensitivity 0.0013μg cm−2. The formation constant (logK) is found to be 9.32, and relative standard deviation ±0.22%. Of the 48 ions studied for interference, only Co(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and EDTA2− are found to interfere. This method has been applied for the determination of manganese content in alloy steels.

Abstract: The television pictures can be approximated by polynomials, so an orthogonal transform having polynomials as the basis vectors can be used for best representation of such images. The possibilities of Legendre Polynomial transform for data compression are explored in the present paper. This paper also presents a computationally fast algorithm for obtaining Legendre transforms of sequences.

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study of a two-phase concentric jet with particles in the secondary stream was carried out and it was shown that particles enhance the mixing of the mixing.
Abstract: In a two-phase concentric jet the second phase, consisting of solids, influences the development of the jet and the effect of its presence needs to be assessed quantitatively. An experimental study of such a jet with particles in the secondary stream was therefore undertaken. It is seen that particles enhance the mixing. On a. par consequent, fait une etude experimentale de ce type de jet comportant des particules pour la seconde phase; on a constate que les particules augmentent le melange.
