TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the effect of goal setting theory on entrepreneurial exit and found that a bias in goal setting effect premature entrepreneurial exit, and important recommendations for further research are given.
Abstract: The stimulation of entrepreneurship and the support to venture creation is widely introduced in governmental policy plans. Despite the good intentions, the failure rate of start-ups remains the same. Research on entrepreneurial exit and the design of effective prevention measures seem to be at a dead end. New perspectives might generate an impetus to this field. In this paper the goal setting theory is explored. The findings indicate that there are designations that a bias in goal setting effect premature entrepreneurial exit. In this paper important recommendations for further research are given.

TL;DR: Reintroduction of a food after negative food challenge faces many obstacles and there are no studies available about this subject in adults.
Abstract: BACKGROUND: Reintroduction of a food after negative food challenge (FC) faces many obstacles. There are no studies available about this subject in adults. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the frequency, reasons and risk factors of reintroduction failure in adults. METHODS: In this prospective study, adult patients received standardized follow-up care after negative FCs including a reintroduction scheme and supportive telephone consultations. Data were collected by telephone interview (2 weeks after FC) and questionnaires (at baseline and 6 months after FC(s)): food habits questionnaire, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Food Allergy Quality of Life Questionnaire-Adult Form and Food Allergy Independent Measure. Frequency and reasons of reintroduction failure were analysed using descriptive statistics and risk factors with univariate analyses. RESULTS: Eighty patients were included with, in total, 113 negative FCs. Reintroduction failed on short-term (2 weeks after FC) in 20% (95% CI: 13%-28%). Common reasons were symptoms upon ingestion during the reintroduction scheme (50%) and no need to eat the food (23%). On the long-term (5-12 months after FC(s)), reintroduction failure increased to 40% (95% CI: 28%-53%). Common reasons were atypical symptoms after eating the food (59%) and fear for an allergic reaction (24%). Five risk factors for long-term reintroduction failure were found: if culprit food was not one of the 13 EU regulated allergens, reintroduction failure at short-term, atypical symptoms during FC, a lower quality of life and a higher state anxiety. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Reintroduction failure after negative FCs in adults is common, increases over time, and is primarily due to atypical symptoms. This stresses the need for more patient-tailored care before and after negative food challenges.

TL;DR: This study observed the mathematical thinking of students aged 14-16 and found some students’ preference of the use of formulas, while at the same time other students showed more insight by their systematic approach of the problems, leading to better results.
Abstract: This study reports combinatorial reasoning to solve problems. We observed the mathematical thinking of students aged 14-16. We study the variation of the students’ solution strategies in the context of emergent modelling. The results show that the students are tempted to begin the problem solving process on the highest level and otherwise have difficulties transitioning from a lower to a higher level of activities. Qualitative analysis revealed some students’ preference of the use of formulas, while at the same time other students showed more insight by their systematic approach of the problems, leading to better results. We advocate matching emergent modelling with teaching combinatorial reasoning, stimulating students to create a relational network of knowledge.

TL;DR: The guidelines for transforming a business model into an EA that have been derived in earlier research are refined, building blocks for a business models based EA design are identified and an example is illustrated to illustrate this with an example.
Abstract: An enterprise architecture (EA) is a high-level representation of an enterprise, used for managing the relation between business and IT. In order to improve the contribution of IT to the business, all elements of an EA should be traceable to the business model and vice versa. However, in practice this is not the case. In addition to reasoning about cost structures and goal contributions of IT to the business, as is customary in EA, traceability would allow practitioners to reason about the contribution of IT to the value offerings of a business. In this research paper we present the results from an experiment where we wanted to refine guidelines for transforming a business model into an EA that we have derived in earlier research. Based on this experiment we refine the guidelines, identify building blocks for a business model (BM) based EA design and illustrate this with an example.
